  hemy: Very, very sad, it was a shocking, terrible news.

The last email message I received from you was on July 19th. It was very short: "Thank you Hemy" and link to the game submitted by me.

The games I sent to you were published with the speed of "Blitz" games. It was strange for me not to receive your response for my latest messages and not to see the games submitted by me in CG database. Now I know what happen ...

R.I.P. Daniel Freeman.

  Diademas: Absolutely devastating news. My thoughts and sincerest condolences to his family.

The chess community is a little smaller and a lot poorer today.

  Sargon: Farewell, my friend <Sneaky>. We'll meet again someday in <glory>.

Dan Freeman ("D") was one of my <closest> friends for over 30 years, starting from our earliest days at college, and then throughout our business partnership, which began in 1995. He passed away before his time and he'll be <dearly> missed. In his memory, I will do my utmost to honor his vision for this community from this moment forward.

<ChessGames.com> was a <labor of love> for Dan, and will stand as one of his greatest legacies, and I will be <attempting> to fill Dan's <large> shoes by assuming administration of the site and database for the time being.

Much of the <Chessgames.com> site's functionality is <not> documented, and was known only to Dan, but a good bit has become familiar to me as I've assisted him at various times since its inception. Additionally, Dan and I acquired similar skill sets over the decades. Nonetheless, I ask that everyone <please> bear with me while I begin this daunting process, which will be immensely <challenging>, to say the very least.

Peace be with you, Dan.

Best regards,
Sargon

Jul-30-18  qkxwsm: RIP Daniel Freeman.

Thank you for such a nice website.

Jul-30-18  nok: <Nok, I think Daniel was <Sneaky>>

That's a bit surprising. From Biographer Bistro (kibitz #18679) :

<Jul-20-18   chessgames.com: if I said "I live 90 minutes from Miami" I am not being ambiguous.>

<Jul-20-18   Sneaky: That's entirely ambiguous! 90 minutes by airplane? By automobile? By foot?>

  Penguincw: Just heard of the sad news, and I'd like to offer my condolences as well.

The site will continue in his legacy.

<Sneaky>

I honestly thought <Sneaky> was a different person. But <Sneaky> hasn't kibitzed since Jul/21. Is <Sneaky> honestly Daniel Freeman incognito?

Daniel 12:2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

Rest in Peace, Daniel.
