ESSAM EL GINDY
(born Jul-14-1966, 53 years old) Egypt

Essam El Gindy was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2008. He was African champion in 2003, took 2nd place in the championship of Africa and in the Arab championship in 2007, 4th in the African Championship of 2009, and winner of the 2009 Arab Championship that was held in Tunisia. He qualified for the World Cup (2011) through the African Continental Championship of 2011 but lost to Hungarian super-GM Zoltan Almasi in the first round. He lost to Leinier Dominguez Perez at the World Cup (2013) in the 1st round, and was therefore eliminated from the contest. He again qualified(1) for the World Cup in 2017. El Gindy is also a FIDE Trainer.
