BLAZENA JANECKOVA
(born Feb-03-1911, died 1961, 50 years old) Czech Republic

[what is this?]

In 1937, Blažena Janečková won the Czech Women's Chess Championship and took second place in 1938. In 1939, she participated in the Women's World Chess Championship in Buenos Aires and shared ninth and tenth places, with the tournament being won by Vera Menchik.

In early 1941, Janečková was arrested by the Gestapo because she was a member of a Communist resistance group and spent the remainder of World War II in a concentration camp.

After the liberation, Janečková was a member of the editorial board of chess journal Československý šach. Also after World War II, she also continued to participate in chess tournaments for some years, finishing second in the 1946 Janečková and fourth in the 1952 in the Czechoslovak Women's Chess Championships. After 1952, Janečková had to leave active chess activities for health reasons and worked at the Czechoslovak Trade Office in Rio de Janeiro.
