Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-24-13  Karpova: Anton Ritzen from Cologne participated successfully in several correspondence games of the 'Wiener Schachzeitung' (e. g. he won 2nd prize in the 6th and 19th group, and 3rd prize in the 16th group).

He also proposed a new way of playing chess, called <Krönschach>. The main innovation is that first White puts his ♔ on either a 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank square, then Black his ♔ on either a 6th, 7th or 8th rank square. Then follow ♕, ♖,♗, ♘ and finally ♙. But ♙ only on 2nd and 3rd, or 6th and 7th rank respectively. Furthermore, if the ♔ is in check during arrangement of the pieces, a piece has to be placed in front of him. The ♙ can advance only one square from 3rd/6th rank, but again one or two from 2nd/7th rank.

Ritzen announces a book called 'Das unsterbliche Schachbuch' (The Immortal Chess Book), wherein also (but not exclusively) a lot of space will be devoted to the <Krönschach>.
