Levon Aronian
Magnus Carlsen
Boris Gelfand

One hint: This list is complete. What they have in common is shared by no other player. |

 |

 | | Landman: <WannaBe> Didn't think of that angle. No, nothing to do with me. |

 | | WannaBe: We better bring in <Phony Benoni>, if anyone can find the answer, it's him. "This call to the bullpen is brought to you by Red Bull, and Bic-Pen. When you absolutely have to bring the absolute best." Hey, that's pretty catchy! |

 | | Phony Benoni: <WannaBe> Hmmm. This is a Christmas Puzzle Hunt sort of question, and you know I never solve those except by accident. |

 | | Landman: I couldn't find an especially appropriate place for this so I posted it here. Anyone know where the Chessgames.com GrandTriviaMasters hang out? |

 | | Phony Benoni: <Landman> There used to be trivial activity over at the Louis F Stumpers page, but lately the baseball groupies have taken over. |

| Aug-12-12 | | solskytz: ...and here, too - so, what do these players have in common? I was stumped... |
 |
Aug-12-12
 | | Landman: Hi, I'd forgotten about that. The closest guess was <HeMateMe>'s early mention of longevity. The biggest of my subtle clues was the last one mentioning Cesar Boutteville - comment here: Louis F Stumpers . I didn't see any serious answers after that. I'd prefer to have someone guess the answer - the solution is not particularly obscure or devious. The most important old clue is that players must be active, be living, and be rated on the latest FIDE list. Beyond that is the information common to all the chessgames.com biographies. If you can figure out why one of the obscure names would be on the list, you're most of the way to the solution. |
 |
| Aug-14-12 | | solskytz: Great. I do admire your persistence in offering a challenge and refusing to reveal the answer, over long stretches of time... a Star Stumper at heart!! |
