Hey, I'm an amateur player from Tasmania, Australia. My favourite players are: Tal, Keres, Shirov, Kasparov, Kramnik, Alekhine, Fischer, Stein, Morozovich and Anand... oh and Habu... ;)

Akireta: As far as I can see Carlsen doesn't have a + score against any of these players. -2 Anand -1 Kramnik = Shirov If my info is correct.

Akireta: I think this year's title match will be truly interesting - it's not so often that the true leading lights face it off in a serious match. No doubt Anand is a superb tournament player, but to sit and face the same very strong opponent day in and day out is something different... no ...

Akireta: I hear people speak regularly of Ivanchuk's endearing eccentricities, I'm quite new to this scene, does anyone here have any interesting examples?

Akireta: presumably not ;)

Akireta: but really in our position I'm voting for the Nimzo.

Akireta: sad that Keres didn't get to have a go... he seems to me the logical successor (at least while Alekhine still lived) a match between those two really would've been something.

   Nov-22-06 Tal Memorial (2006) (replies)

Akireta: It's funny... I seem to recall Tal writing somewhere that "to play for a draw with the white pieces is a crime against chess" ho hum.

Akireta: Does anyone know if a record has been posted anywhere of the Blitz games from the Tal Memorial? (I don't know what the precedent is with things like that.)

Nov-22-06 The World vs A Nickel, 2006 (replies)

Akireta: I was just thinking, are there any longterm plans we can consider which result in our bishop being a tad less useless?
