Arcturar: Grischuk and Karjakin both defend unbelievably well when necessary. Sascha's draw-forcing in the 2011 Candidates and Sergei's constant escaping are proof enough of that. And such tenaciousness is why I think both higher potential than Morozevich or Svidler. The only problem Sascha ...

May-17-13 Karjakin vs Topalov, 2013 (replies)

Arcturar: Eleven Fischer can feel it?

   May-17-13 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

Arcturar: In other news, Wang Hao is a champ, and good luck to Lev tomorrow (as usual). Hopefully either Karjakin or Anand win outright or win in the blitz. But Carlsen is still strong as heck guys; don't exaggerate his loss.

Arcturar: Yes, Svidler is rather talkative and likes to be the centre of attention. But Topalov could have said more if he wanted to. It isn't Peter's fault that Veselin is a quiet guy.

Arcturar: The pattern only takes an hour or two to master...and I found the mate instructive not just for the off-chance you'll have to use it in a real game, but also for seeing how knights and bishops work together. It's definately worth it. The Q v R checkmate is SO much harder to win. ...

   May-01-13 Alekhine Memorial (2013) (replies)

Arcturar: Gratz to both Lev and Boris! Excellent game from Kramnik today as well.

Apr-30-13 FIDE Grand Prix Zug (2013) (replies)

Arcturar: Petrosianic: Bogo doesn't really count, as he never actually proved that he deserved to play a match, and was basically handpicked by Alekhine as the guy to beat up on. Capablanca was definately a much better challenger, so both Alekhine-Bogo matches (especially the second one) ...

   Apr-22-13 Chinese Championships (2013) (replies)

Arcturar: Haha, Shams. In all seriousness though, Wei is REALLY impressing me here. I hope he can win the whole thing in the end.

   Apr-14-13 Alexander Grischuk (replies)

Arcturar: Yup, nice job Sascha!

Apr-13-13 Russian Team Championships (2013) (replies)

Arcturar: It would very interesting if Grischuk could play. A real Russian (Karjakin is only semi-Russian) has to be present for proper representation. :P
