   Feb-02-10 L Dominguez vs Morozevich, 2009 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: Hardest Tuesday I've seen in a while. I went straight for 35 Rb8+.

   Jun-08-07 E Mnatsakanian vs J Banas, 1979 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: This puzzle reminds me of many games I have lost by saying to myself, "Well, my position is a pin cushion, but I don't think I need to get out of the pins quite yet since my opponent can't checkmate me or win material right away." Meanwhile, my opponent keeps me pinned and ...

May-29-07 NN vs Lasker, 1907 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: After 1 Nf3?? e5!!, Black has a 100% winning record.

   May-21-07 François André Philidor (replies)

Cannon Fodder: According to CG's bio of George Atwood, 47 of Philidor's games were published in the 1820's from notation taken by Atwood. Do any of the chess historians out there know where these games can be found?

May-01-07 Teichmann vs NN, 1914 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: When will people learn to stopping accepting wooden horses as gifts?

Apr-30-07 Portisch vs Spassky, 2007 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: Every decade or so he makes a move like this: Spassky vs Karpov, 1988 Still, when you consider all the brilliant chess the man has given the world, these blunders are no more than an amusing footnote. Spassky will always be my hero.

   Apr-29-07 A Reshko vs Spassky, 1960

Cannon Fodder: This is a beautiful game by Spassky. I saw the position after white's 38th move in a puzzle book, and I came up with 38 ...Qxd5 39 Bxd5 Bxh3+. Does this win too? (Obviously, Spassky's text move is best; but I'm just wondering if my answer at least leads to an advantage for ...

   Apr-20-07 Beliavsky vs P Popovic, 1982 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: Moves like this make me want to waste my whole life on chess like a meaningless insect drawn to the flame of Caissa.

   Apr-19-07 O Hirn vs T Hillarp Persson, 2006 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: It's interesting here how white's position falls apart after 16 Nc2? Tiger plays a nice combination leaving the opponent (1) unable to castle, (2) with a knight all the way in the corner, and (3) absolutely no pawn cover; and material is about even once the fireworks have all ...

Apr-19-07 Khalifman vs Seirawan, 1991 (replies)

Cannon Fodder: I spent some time trying to make a mating attack work, but the pesky e8 knight kept messing with my plans. So I figured Rxe8 had to be the solution, and to my surprise I got the moves right up until Black's resignation. Nice puzzle.
