CountryGirl: Happy birthday in heaven, Efim Petrovich. It's interesting that Geller had plus scores against the great 'strategists' Petrosian, Smyslov and Botvinnik, but minus scores against those with a more similar style to himself, including Keres and Spassky.

Mar-01-17 A Muzychuk vs Tan Zhongyi, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: What an exciting game! Enterprising attack by Anna.

Feb-25-17 D Harika vs Tan Zhongyi, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: The game provides an argument for 5... b5, rather than Nd7. As it is, White combines Bc4 with an early f5 and that's pretty scary.

Feb-24-17 Yu Yangyi vs D Khismatullin, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: Very dynamic play by Denis. Black was in the driver's seat the whole way.

   Feb-24-17 M Bluebaum vs E Najer, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: Ouch! White got crunched.

   Feb-22-17 Adams vs J L Hammer, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: Agree, fisayo. And the intuitively positional players like Adams often enjoy a very long playing life...

   Feb-07-17 R Edouard vs Nakamura, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: This game shows the Nimzo to good advantage - i.e. how active it can be for black. Naka's initiative seemed to be never ending.

Feb-04-17 Spassky vs Averkin, 1973 (replies)

CountryGirl: Got Bc7, but did not see Rxf7. Powerful stuff, Boris!

   Feb-03-17 Sutovsky vs I Kovalenko, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: Exciting game! As so often with these two players.

Feb-02-17 Yifan Hou vs B Lalith, 2017 (replies)

CountryGirl: How disrespectful to poor Lalith. She should have apologised to him, before anyone. Not impressed.
