Greetings from Bergen, Norway.
I never thought I would spend good money to join a community with the sole purpose of discussing chess, but here I am. I havent played a rated game since they banned smoking and if your into improving your game Im not the guy to ask.

The reason I still frequents these pages are the romantic notion that this game, and its rich history, is something that binds a bunch of interesting people together regardless of nationality, race, religion and politics.

Even if Im not a very good chessplayer, I see myself as something of an afficionado and conneseur of good trolling - weather it is Phillipino or independent trolls. I might even dedicate this forum to trolls and feeders. I

Diademas: RIP Lothar Schmid. Is his birthdate correct? The chessbase article gives his year of birth as 1928. The same does Wikipedia.

Diademas: Thank you for hosting <lostemperor>and congrats to the winners. Especially <twinlark> for winning the pair betting ranker without a single "equal" and thereby settle a dispute.

Tiggler: It is nice to know that a genuine Norwegian troll recognizes the champion trolls of this era: the Filipinos. The best of trolling to you all!

waustad: He might even have played in a Troll Masters tournament! Thinking about Bergen Norway, the only time I was there was about 42 years ago. I suspect it has changed a bit.

Check It Out: Have you seen that independent Norweigan film about trolls? It was released about 3-5 years ago.

Diademas: <Check It Out> Yes, its brilliant! I guess your talking about this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1740707/

Its sprinkled with references to Norwegian folklore and word play, so I guess seeing it in translation might not be the same.

Check It Out: <Diademas> That's the one. From reading your bio I figured you were a troll hunter of sorts. Wish I could understand the original dialogue, but a great part is the first encounter with a troll, when he runs down the hill and yells, "TROOOOOOLLLLL!!!!"

Loved it.
