I live in Italy and my favourite player is... The Fabulous Fab Caruana

Doniez has kibitzed 496 times to chessgames   [more...]
   Jan-12-18 C Lehmann vs Zukertort, 1864
Doniez: The advice from his brother was - as usual - an epic fail.
   Jan-08-18 J Cori vs F Benediktsson, 2009 (replies)
Doniez: IMHO the real advantage for white is because black pieces are trapped in the last 2 ranks and white pawns are strong. By force white can win. I won't check the engine analysis but I'm all but convinced I'm right. BTW happy new year to all of you!
   Jun-20-17 W M Popert vs NN, 1841 (replies)
Doniez: Nice miniature and impressive final position
May-18-17 F Vallejo Pons vs Radjabov, 2017 (replies)
Doniez: what a pleasure to see the pawn promotion for a knight, which is rare but usually is always leading to a great endgame
May-12-17 V Asadli vs Javokhir Sindarov, 2015 (replies)
Doniez: Last black move 31....Bc8 is extremely elegant but I didn't find it.
   May-11-17 Short vs E Blomqvist, 2017 (replies)
Doniez: Very nice ending by Short, who's now about to break (after several years and at the age of 50) the 2700 wall. Kudos to this gentleman player!
   May-09-17 M Meinhardt vs Sasikiran, 2007 (replies)
Doniez: Easy solution however what I appreciated most is the terrific and continuous attack of black pieces starting from move 2.
   Apr-19-17 M Apicella vs I Farago, 2007 (replies)
Doniez: The only move for white to avoid mate is 39.Rxg3 and gives him a double edge: no mate coming and b-pawn race to promotion, protected by the knight. Easy puzzle for Wednesday.
   Apr-12-17 J F Campbell vs A Ehrlich, 1990 (replies)
Doniez: The "if" move made a grin appear on my face but had not the same effect for Black player, "if" I understand the way he intended his smart move
Apr-11-17 Bisguier vs Fischer, 1956 (replies)
Doniez: After 33.Qxe8, either moves Kxe8 or Qxe8 is losing because of 34.Kxf6 supported by the Rook on d1. Very easy for Tuesday
