Figs: Whoops I missed be3+

Sep-09-10 Krum Georgiev vs Kasparov, 1980 (replies)

Figs: What a fantastic game, one of my favourites. This game epitomises what I admire about chess sacrifices, but sadly will never be able to replicate in my own games.

Figs: I've submitted this for game of the day with the pun... "bishopS to die for"

Figs: Great game, I would never have seen 15...Rxh2!

Figs: I see, thanks Chess Carnival

   Oct-25-09 E Varain vs NN, 1890

Figs: An asthetically pleasing game here. Perhaps a candidate for game of the day in the future. 12.Qf7! is where the major trouble starts for black. If black takes the queen then 13.Nf6+ Kd8 14. Nxf7# wins for white. 17.Nxd6! is also a strong move. If black refuses the queen sacrafice, say ...

Figs: if 13kf1 does 13...Qf4 win? The discovered check looks dangerous, but I can't actually see any real danger and white's attack will run out. Therefore, something like: 13. Kf1 Qf4 14. Nh6+ Kh8 15. Nf7 Rxf7 16. Bxf7 Bh4+ 17. Kg1 Qf2#

Mar-03-09 Grischuk vs Radjabov, 2009 (replies)

Figs: black played knc6 as i predicted. here, i think that maybe white should lose the b-pawn to protect the d-file, stopping knd6 and potencially causing chaos on the 7th rank by threatening black's pawns and protecting a possible pawn promotion.

Figs: oh, i missed the Q covering e1
