Nov-08-17 Matulovic vs Ulf Andersson, 1972 (replies)

Flemming: Andersson was ending-freak from the very beginning. 27. ...cxd4! was obviously surprise for Matulovic, who expected easy point against "unknown" Ulf, and he - perhaps in time trouble - took the bait with 28. cxd4?! and all of the sudden he found himself with weak Pawn on d4. 28. ...

   Sep-01-17 V Sokolov vs V Cuderman, 1958

Flemming: In these days players replayed Bb3 on ...Be6 automatically. Still the second best answer.

   Jun-27-17 Timman vs Short, 1993

Flemming: <Eggman> Different wiev on this game was gien by Timman in Sosonko's book "Smart chip from St. Petersburg". Timman had sleepless night befr the game: "This was the decisive game in World Championship semi-final match. I had been up almost entire night before the game. I ...

   Jun-27-17 Radjabov vs Timman, 2003

   Jun-18-17 Carlsen vs W So, 2017 (replies)

Flemming: After 23 Rxc7 Black could have been tempted to "attack" 23. ...Ra1+ 24. Kh2 Qf4+ but after 25. g3 Black is in trouble.

May-14-17 Ivkov vs Tal, 1961 (replies)

Flemming: <Whitehat1963: Tal wasn't only capable of dashing sac attacks, here he shows patient and capable endgame technique against one of the great "grandmaster drawers" of all time, who appears to be trying to simplify at every turn.> You probably mixed Ivkov with Dr. Petar ...

   May-10-17 H Stevic vs J Plenca, 2016 (replies)

Flemming: When he played 16. Bxc6, White had to calculate 19.Bxh6 (it reminds on famous Browne's move against Mednis!) and that after 19. ...gxh6 straight forward 20. Re3 isn't enough but there is 20. Qxh6 Bxe4 21. Rad1 Qc4 and only then 22.Re3. Amazing calculation.

   May-04-17 J H Donner vs Petrosian, 1955 (replies)

Flemming: 31. ...Rb6 (*not Rc6 (typo))

   Apr-17-17 Gligoric vs Hort, 1972

Flemming: After Reykjavik match Gligorić in next two years played "against Fischer" and destroyed Ben Oni (with...Nh5) and defended Breyer's variation of Ruy Lopez and had 50% success against Huebner variation in Nimzo-Indian Defense. But he couldn't "refute" Ficher's Pirc Defense. Hort

   Apr-12-17 Spassky vs Balashov, 1971

Flemming: During his preparation for Reykjavik match, Fischer said for Spassky's games in Moscow 1971 tournament: "He was lost n almost every game." 17. e5? was poor. White might not be lost, but Black had an edge after it.
