   Feb-21-12 Morozevich vs D Fridman, 2012 (replies)

Gantreel: I think 11...Nb6 was the way to go, eyeing the c4 square for the knight and following up with a5.

Oct-22-08 Anand vs Kramnik, 2008 (replies)

Gantreel: Anand is beating Kramnik comfortably. I don't know what's going on with Kramnik, but his play is pretty shocking. All credit, though, to Anand.

   Oct-22-08 D Leskur vs M Pucarevic, 2001

Gantreel: It does indeed. Instead 4....Nc6 would have been fine for black, along the lines of the Nimzovich defence.

   Apr-06-07 W So vs F El Taher, 2006 (replies)

Gantreel: OK, so 6. ... Nf2 7. Qh5 g6, then what?

   Apr-05-07 B Heberla vs M Bobula, 2007

Gantreel: 34. Rb7+ is horrendous. What about 34. Kf2?

Apr-04-07 J M De La Villa Garcia vs Korchnoi, 1991 (replies)

Gantreel: Am I missing something, or is there a reason White doesn't play dxc6 on move 11 (or thereafter)?

   Apr-04-07 S Sulskis vs Hjartarson, 1997 (replies)

Gantreel: 3. ...Bb4+ looks very amateurish. 4. c3 wins a tempo, followed by Bd3, f4 etc, and is better than letting black off the hook by transposing to the Winawer.

   Mar-14-07 J Petkevich vs D Bocharov, 2007

Gantreel: Sorry "eainca" I still don't get it. 13...BxB, 14. KxB b5, 15.cb how is the QB lost?

Mar-13-07 Svidler vs Morozevich, 2007 (replies)

Gantreel: Even if 19. 0-0, then 19...Nxd3 followed by ...0-0 and Black will have a much stronger position: a passed a-pawn, strong bishop, active Queen, while white's d-pawn is easily blockaded.

Mar-13-07 Opocensky vs Hromadka, 1931 (replies)

Gantreel: The sequence starting with 20. d5 is just brilliant! (Haven't yet analysed it closely to see if black had better options, though).
