Apr-05-10 M Aaron vs Robatsch, 1962

|
GreenCastle: Nice king & rook endgame.

| | Jun-09-08 S Marder vs Hector, 2001
| |
|
GreenCastle: Interesting to note that Jonny Hector play the Veresov for White. This 2..e5 business is curious. 4.Nb5 Nc6 5.Nf3 Bc5 6.Bg5! followed by c3 is already better for White.

|
GreenCastle: Steve's father is Robert Kazmierczak, but I doubt Robert was under 18 years old in 2001. So I'm guessing no.

GreenCastle: http://myespn.go.com/s/conversation...
The reaction of most people who don't play chess in this thread is sad. They can't look past Fischer's antisemitism or 9-11 remarks and appreciate what he accomplished for chess and his country.

GreenCastle: I've analyzed this and I can't find a significant mistake by either side... truly a thing of beauty :)

The Re8 cannot escape the fury of White's bishops (..Rd8 Be7)

|
GreenCastle: <whiteshark: 1. Rh1+ Kb2 2. Ra1! Kxa1 3. Kc2!>
Does 1.d5 also work?
1.d5 exd5 2.Kc3 a1=Q+ 3.Kb3 and Black can't stop Rh1+.
[DIAGRAM]
1...exd5 2.Kc3 a1=N 3.Rd2 Kc1 is a possible defense, I guess.

GreenCastle: 22. g8+! moves 23.gxh3
There is no good way to meet the threat of Bxc6. Black will be down a whole rook.
