Johannesburg RSA. Kaspy is King but Fisher is forever!

Isilimela has kibitzed 87 times to chessgames   [more...]
   Oct-18-17 Miles vs Nunn, 1976
Isilimela: White should just go after the rook with 14. Nc7 as Karpov convincingly demonstrated: Karpov vs Miles, 1977
Sep-25-17 Beliavsky vs Larsen, 1981 (replies)
Isilimela: Poor old Bent - always seems to be on the wrong side of brilliancies like this eg vs Spassky also in gotd recently
Sep-22-17 Ding Liren vs Aronian, 2013 (replies)
Isilimela: Great game from Ding - you gotta love the pawn square b4-d6. No way home for the black queen!
Sep-07-17 Carlsen vs Dreev, 2017 (replies)
Isilimela: I am reminded of a comment on a game in one of my old chess books: "When black comes rushing in, white pulls the rug from under him!"
   Sep-07-17 E Inarkiev vs M Mchedlishvili, 2017
Isilimela: Always wondered how best to handle the Pirc. Might try this approach locking in the fianchetto bishop and creating space behind the central pawns. Nice exchange sac to finish up.
   Sep-05-17 Aronian vs D Cawdery, 2017
Isilimela: Indeed so - somewhat "Laskerian" in so far as one has the impression of white's position being under pressure/inferior when in fact it never really is.
   Sep-04-17 World Cup (2017) (replies)
Isilimela: Carlsen - what happened ??
   Sep-04-17 Caruana vs K Solomon, 2017
Isilimela: Playing Caruana, Kenny might have at least attempted 22 ... f5. Go for broke like Cawdery at least tried vs Aronian!
Aug-25-17 Anderssen vs Kieseritzky, 1851 (replies)
Isilimela: Oh alas the death of romanticism at the cold hands of the "silicon monster". 16 ... Bc5 ?? Blunder 17 Nd5 Blunder (17 d4 Bf8 18. Be5 etc) 18. Bd6 Blunder 18 ... Bxg1 Blunder!
Aug-15-17 St. Louis Rapid & Blitz (Rapid) (2017) (replies)
Isilimela: When you don't have anything to prove (been there done that, got the world champ T-shirt!), you can just enjoy your chess. And that's what Gazza will do I guess!
