   Dec-26-12 W Winter vs Koltanowski, 1936 (replies)

JoshOvi: < <pmukerji> what if black plays 26. ... Bxh5? > Without checking with a computer I would guess simply 27.gh5 and the threat of h6 just wins the Knight on g7. Furthermore Whites position is just overwhelming. Bb5 with multiple threads is in the air and so on...

   Apr-14-11 Vallejo-Pons vs N Mohota, 2011

JoshOvi: I think the notation is wrong. 19...Qe8 is probably 19. ...Qc7. Correct me if I am wrong.

   Oct-20-10 A Riazantsev vs Naiditsch, 2010

JoshOvi: Great ending! I learned that two bishops are better than rook and pawn. But this game tells a different story. Can anyone explain where and if White went wrong after 21... Bxb2 ? My guess would be that 29. Bxc4 gives up the bishop pair and this allows the black rook to be active on ...

   Jan-12-10 D Howell vs A Istratescu, 2010 (replies)

JoshOvi: <al wazir: <rogl: What do you suggest instead of Rd5?> 35. g4, and if 35...Qh4 then 36. Qc3. Now 35..Rxe3 is answered by 36. Rxf8+.> I remember seeing this game analyzed somewhere and that 35. Rd2 was playable, the point being that after 35. ... Rxe3 36. fe g2 is ...

JoshOvi: Did anyone suggest the pun "Vugar display of power" yet?

Dec-02-09 Kholmov vs Filip, 1954 (replies)

JoshOvi: <mike1> but why not 22... Qh1+ ? 23.Ke2 Qxg2 and white is in trouble. What do you play after 24.Qf4 in your line? [DIAGRAM]

   Nov-04-08 V Disawal vs M Anshuman, 2008 (replies)

JoshOvi: Hi! I spent some time on trying to figure out at which point in the game black is dead lost. Well it seems to me that after e5 there is no good move left so Re8 is probably the last real mistake. (Granted he can avoid mate but loose material instead but there is no point in playing

   Oct-25-08 Anand-Kramnik World Championship Match (2008) (replies)

JoshOvi: <metatron2> <...I don't really get all those explanations to his unprecedented achievements: Kasparov was at his peak in 2000-2001 during which time competition wasn't much different then today, and he was married (twice actually) with children, so I guess he was having ...

   Feb-02-08 H van den Bos vs V A Napalkov, 2001 (replies)

JoshOvi: Black could have played on for a few moves with 30. .. Rd7 when white has to find accurate moves: 30...Rd7 31.

Apr-08-07 Fischer vs Greenblatt, 1977 (replies)

JoshOvi: Does anybody know how Greenblatt evaluated its moves? Because 20...Rh8 does not looke like a computer move at all, because it enables mate in one as opposed to 20...Kf8. Human players can overlook a mate in one computers normally can't, and the seemingly defending aspect of Rh8 ...
