I live in Manila, the Philippines. I am a former director of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines. Used to be rated at 2200. Just retired from my chemistry and engineering career but just 'unretired' from chess! Alekhine, Von der Lasa ,Em Lasker , Petrosian, Nimzovich, Simagin and Nezhmetdinov are my favorites. Update June 4 2013 : Oops!! I forgot to mention Boleslavsly, Larsen , and Botvinnik. My apologies. Also Duncan Suttles, Lawrence Day and the Canadian Rat Pack. Raymond Keene who put into print the tenets of the Ultramodern School of the aforementioned in his classic ' The Modern Defence '. and Richard Neville Coles for his work on 'Dynamic Chess' . The British Chess literary giants are my favorite authors.

   Mar-20-18 Winawer vs Lasker, 1896
KlingonBorgTatar: This game made a deep impression on me during my teens in the 70s. This is not a Sicilian but it helped me understand and play the black side of the Poisoned Pawn.

KlingonBorgTatar: Agree 1000% with Tedceldor. Biorythym should not be counted out. Wes' corner people should take that into consideration. Btw, sino-sino ba corner people ni Wes? Meron ba?
   Mar-14-18 Keene vs J N Sugden, 1961 (replies)
KlingonBorgTatar: I haven't been around for quite some time in following theory. What is the status of the Polugaevsky today? Has it been refuted? A friend told me so some years ago.
   Jan-30-17 I Nepomniachtchi vs W So, 2017 (replies)
KlingonBorgTatar: The Problem of the Difficult Opponent has morphed into monstrous proportions no doubt.
Jan-30-17 Averbakh vs Spassky, 1961 (replies)
KlingonBorgTatar: Was Averbakh in time trouble hereabouts? For a while he seemed to be winning. He tore apart Spassky's Paulsen Defense early on.

KlingonBorgTatar: Happy Birthday Ray!! Really really enjoyed your great books ( I lost count on how many I have in my library !! :D) But for me The Modern Defense stood out as the creme a la creme. I rank it as one of the landmark books of chess history and philiosophy.( Btw, it is also my ...

KlingonBorgTatar: What a fine tournament to end the year. Worth losing sleep over the games. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all !

KlingonBorgTatar: Rest in Peace , Grandmaster of Chess, the Piano and Literature. You will live forever in our hearts. Your variations in the KID, Gruenfeld, Benoni, Nimzo, Ruy Lopez and Sicilian plus your 2, 4, and six hands piano pieces, and the scholarly chess books you wrote , will never
   Nov-22-16 Eugenio Torre (replies)
KlingonBorgTatar: The Torre - Karpov Match will surely jump start the Renaissance of Philippine Chess. Perhaps after this event , a series of grandmaster tournaments with Eugene, Tolya plus young Russian and Filipino GMs can be organized to benefit our youth. Wesley of course should be ...
   Mar-05-16 Margate (1938) (replies)
KlingonBorgTatar: I'm an Alekhine fan and like to collect books written or co- authored by him. Is there a reprint of the tournament book co-authored by the winner? If there's none an e- copy might do. Thanks in advance.
