   May-24-06 E L'Ami vs H Ziska, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: I am pretty sure, the dutch chess federation's page said so. It said that Ziska didn't seem to understand the time-limits. But strange indeed on move 40. Maybe he was thinking a very long time how to proceed?

Kratboud: After 56. .. ,Qxg2 57.Kxg2 White's knight will reach c3 in two moves to cover a2 and white's king goes after the h-pawn, which black can hardly defend.

Feb-08-06 M Leon Hoyos vs Ponomariov, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: is 34.a4 a crucial mistake? i've looked at 34.Ba7. when black wants to exchange queens by 34. ..,Nf8 35.Qxe6,Nxe6 36.Nd5 gives white enogh counterplay.

   Feb-08-06 Ponomariov vs A Volokitin, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: I believe 18.Bc5 is refuted by 19.f6 with Qh6 to follow

   Feb-08-06 L Dominguez vs Nakamura, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: After 40. .. ,Qxd4, 41. Nxd4 ,Bxd3 42. and white is clearly better, but perhaps not winning.? And what about 40. .. ,Bxd3 immediately? after 41.Qxc3, bxc3 doesn't black's passed d-pawn garantees him a draw in a pawn-endgame? Seems to me avoiding the pawn end-game may even be worse ...

   Feb-08-06 A Volokitin vs Karjakin, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: nice knight movements around move 30!

   Feb-07-06 Vallejo-Pons vs L Dominguez, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: I just analyzed the game with a little help from Fritz, and i think the first exchange sacrifice is not correct. 13.0-0, Bxf3 14.gxf3, Qh4 15.f4, Bd6 15.Kh1 or 13. .. ,Nxf3 14.gxf3, Bh3 15.Re1, Bxe3 16.f4!! in both cases i believe black has insufficient compensation

   Feb-07-06 I Cheparinov vs M Leon Hoyos, 2006 (replies)

Kratboud: 19.Qxd6 seems very dangerous, wasn't there a safer alternative?
