We all have favourite chess players and I chose GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov as my hero. I read that he and his family are really nice and have brilliant minds. Shakhriyar's pleasant demeanour and modesty make him a great role model for the chess youth and I hope he will become World Number 1 and World Champion.

MamedyarovFan: That's nice <JustAnotherPatzer> that you will focus on Shak's games. Another fan of his, <parisattack>, has noticed certain patterns in Shak's games, such as advance of central pawns. See e.g. a comment by <parisattack> at Mamedyarov vs Le Quang Liem, 2010 . ...

MamedyarovFan: As pointed out at Shak's page Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Shak does not like 10... Rc8, 11...a6 and 12...c5 (saying he'd prefer 10... Qb6). He thinks he had some advantage after 13.d5 and a winning position after 14.e5.
