|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: Moving on... Let's find some articles by Brazilian journalists on the current state of Brazilian football. But wait?? *twitch twitch* (excuse me one minute please. My lunacy and "sickoness" are playing up!?).. First. Let's see a replay of how brilliantly Germany took apart a pathetically weak side in the semifinal of this years world cup.... That was played in Brazil 💀💀💀|

Actually it has a movie about it
I will rent today!

This is pretty telling. Look at the faces of the Brazilian crowd?
Karposian.. Just watched that video and I actually really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting. ⚽

<Actually it has a movie about it>
Yeah, I haven't seen the film myself but it looks really interesting. Seem s like a pretty good movie. I will surely watch it too.
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: I wonder who's given more to their respective nations at the World Cup in Pele for Brazil and Klose for Germany??
Pele probably just a little better player but Klose scored more goals!? Mmmmm.. 😄|

You're welcome <Mark>. I've gotta admit that the only explanation for that result is that the English players heavily underestimated the American team and didn't take them seriously.
Because if you look at USA's other results in that World Cup they got blown away and lost heavily in their games against Spain and Chile.
So that US Soccer team was not a strong team by any standard, that's for sure.
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: But, and without wanting to argue about this, the USA never have had a good team! They pull out some really good results from time to time but they're a very poor national side. Hell, so are we but I know it! We're poor! There's been nothing to get excited about at international level since Euro04 when an 18 year old Rooney burst onto the scene.. I'll never forget what Thierry Henry said after the France game (and he played for arsenal at the time!)|
"Rooney? Wow! What a player!".
The Americans are getting better but I'll stand by what I said months back.. Neither America nor England will win a world cup in my lifetime.
|Jul-25-14|| ||Karposian: <MarkFinan> <The Americans are getting better but I'll stand by what I said months back.. Neither America nor England will win a world cup in my lifetime.>|
In this I think we agree <Mark>. Winning a World Cup is an extremely difficult undertaking. There is a reason that only a selected few National teams have won it. How many World Cups have there been in total, twenty right?
But I think there are only five teams that have won more than one World Cup (Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina and Uruguay). And only eight teams in total (adding England, France and Spain, two of these on home soil).
So, to reach a semi-final is absolutely a realistic goal for teams like USA (and England too, of course).
History shows that lots of 'lesser' teams are able to reach that level (Bulgaria, Croatia, Turkey etc.), so that is achievable.
But going all the way? That is a very, very steep mountain to climb indeed...

It's because we're speaking rationally about football! Wow, can't believe he did that, this is why I'm right when I say he's like a big baby!

I'm sure it will say this in the film but I'll say it anyway. Our press thought it was a mistake because they got the results by carrier pigeon back then... Lol, just joking, they got the result through like that old Teletype stuff, and they thought it was a misprint and that we'd won 10-0 and some papers went ahead and published the result as 10-0 to us before having to backtrack in the next mornings papers.

That's a great story. Wow, Incredible.
It seems World Cup history is full of great stories like the one you mention.
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: Check out @AntiqueFootball's Tweet: https://twitter.com/AntiqueFootball...|
And this is a great world cup AND chess photo of the old German Vogts (something like that lol) and a player I've never heard of. Great pic though, definitely around the Fischer era I would think.
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: Okay 1978 lol. Close enough 😄|
|Jul-25-14|| ||Karposian: <MarkFinan> 1978 seems to have been a great World Cup in terms of quality, BUT there are some dark political shadows clouding that World Cup. |
<Jim Bartle> told me that the Argentina's miltary rulers more or less bought that World Cup, fixed games (most famously against Peru in a 6-0 win), used intimidation tactics supported, I must sadly admit, by the US, particularly secretary of state Henry Kissinger. Brazil got cheated, they had only beaten Peru 3-0 while Argentina had an easy game winning by six goals under very suspicious circumstances according to <Jim>.
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: Karposian.. Jim's right. Lots of corruption at Argentina78. And Jim lives in Peru, the team that took the bribes so he'll know about all that. All I know is someone (probably Argentina) had to win a group game by 6 goals to get through and of course they played Peru and scored 7 or something.
Great world cup though apparently, I only have silly little memories of 78 and 82 butI rremember kempes the great Argentine, Holland, and of course... "The ticker tape final" as it's globally known.|
|Jul-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: <karposian> all fixed. Sorry i pushed The wrong button, im in The cell..sorry !|
|Jul-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: 1978 was fixed for sure.<jb> hás a better confirmation of that..Peru just let it loose in purpose..I can go back in that later. I busy now|

No problem. I figured as much ;)
|Jul-25-14|| ||MarkFinan: Diego Maradona vs Lionel Messi ● Argentine DNA Sk…: http://youtu.be/vpjXpBLImyk|
I think Maradona played on waste ground compared to Messi so Maradona wins. Kkderek, who do you think mate?? Out of the Argentinians who's your vote as the greatest ever?? 🙌
|Jul-25-14|| ||KKDEREK: Just saw your question now,;..I don't know why o cellphone the ignore list doesn't work. lol But ok, I will give a shot since you respectfully ask a question.|
Well, my opinion is rather irrelevant, but Maradona still is a demi-god there (on Argentina). Sure technically wise Messi is as good as Maradona, and he have the numbers, but Maradona has the charisma, he won a world cup, played great with weak teams (napoli )..Messi is great but just deliveries with his amazing team backing him up (at Barca). With all respect, 90% of the teams Barca plays agaisnt are <infinitely> inferior technically-wise than they are..So. That's personal..But Argentinians still think Maradona and Pele are untouchable..That can change yet. But Messi has to play way better with Argentina team to get people hearts with him.. Its not about win a woirld cup, is about pley a great one..Still he lacks it and you might agree with that..Therefore yes I still think Maradona is the best and then you can pick Alfredo or Messi .I will study more Alfredo, he was great but also played on historical Real Madrid team, one of the best ever teams. We shall see his record throughout his career..
|Jul-26-14|| ||MarkFinan: Pele: 'I would rather play for Barcelona than Man…: http://youtu.be/pbtMNZ-UcFQ|
This is a brilliant "interview" with Edson by talksport. Talksport are infamous in this country for always getting in trouble somewhere, or just hiring footballers and ex pundits who've been "disgraced" at some point in their careers (If you've been to prison or had a high profile court case..You get the job, lol) and old Edson makes me squirm for him when asked about a goal he missed at Mexico70!?
Kinda of a hit piece because they ask him what he'd prefer to be called (???) and who's the GOAT. A question Pele has never consistently answered but he always starts off his answer with "wella I scored over 1000 goals in my career!". NO YOU DID NOT!
|Jul-26-14|| ||MarkFinan: <Therefore yes I still think Maradona is the best>|
We agree!! Come here and give me a kkiss? :-)
|Jul-27-14|| ||MarkFinan: Nakosorense.. Did you see that 70 yard goal from Pjanic yesterday for Roma against Manchester United?? Rooney got a brace but no doubt who scored the best goal.|
|Jul-30-14|| ||MarkFinan: Manchester United vs AS Roma 3-2 All Goals & High…: http://youtu.be/y3Jy2qH1gE8|
Why Rooney couldn't do that at the world cup I don't know! But check the goal around 2:25? Best goal I've seen in a while.
