Novice713: The game Koltanowski vs S Webb, 1941 must be by someone else since it's in 1941.

Novice713: I wonder, how much did the "Worldwide Church of God" influence Bobby when he was younger? How long was he with them?

| | Mar-15-05 I Rogers vs C Depasquale, 1986
| |
Novice713: Easy for most people I guess, but not necessarily for beginners.

| | Jan-21-05 H W Russner vs C Walcker, 1942
| |
Novice713: Look at all those captures near the end. In about 5 moves all the pieces disappear except one bishop each.

| | Jan-21-05 Hort vs Portisch, 1973
| |
Novice713: With Rg4+ the pawn is forced to capture, leaving the bishop open.

| | Jan-19-05 Rellstab vs Najdorf, 1950
| |
Novice713: Why does White play 22. Rxd4, capturing with his rook?

| | Jan-17-05 Kulaots vs J Geller, 2002
| |
Novice713: The earlier kibitzing helped me to understand this - the black queen can't protect the bishop anymore, all the squares on the 5th rank are covered.

Novice713: <BishopBerkeley> I've seen that picture of Alexandra and Kasparov. It's true, he does look rather suspicious. :-)

| | Jan-15-05 A Alavkin vs V Diu, 2002
| |
Novice713: I figured that Qh5 and the knight check would be in there, but not in that order. I was expecting a short combination. After 19. N5g6+ Black loses his rook, and then both his knights, so he must be almost lost.

| | Jan-10-05 B Blumenfeld vs Alekhine, 1908
| |
Novice713: Fairly simple puzzle. For 32...? there is only one move that checks the white king, anyway.
