RKelley: Yes, the Emms book covers Be7 as well as Ba7. When first learning the Kan I was very intrigued by Ba7 and I liked it very much because of its attacking prospects against the white king. All my interest in this line vanished once I discovered that Be3 is pretty much always played ...

RKelley: Not quite Jack21221, there are more chess positions than atoms in the universe. It will be a LONG time until chess is solved in my opinion.

RKelley: bunti: Ilya Smirin is one of the top practictioners of the Kan, Kramnik and Kasparov have also used it a few times. I highly suggest Emms Sicilian Kan book by Everyman for learning the Kan, it's a ver good book.

RKelley: Dickens didn't put any more effort into these posts than copying off a site and pasting it... taking credit for it.

RKelley: in The Life and Games of Mikhail Tal he says he lost only once on time, early in his career. The book only covers up until 1973 though, so it is possible he lost on time.
