Since the Akobian game is drawn, I have an analysis task for you ... IF you are interested.

In the above game, after 10...e5!; would you care to do an analysis of 11.Bd6!? winning the exchange.

Both players by-passed this possibility, esp. White. (So I assume there might be a reason for this!?!?)

RandomVisitor: <LMAJ><I posted your analysis on the Nakamura-Ivanchuk page ... I hope that you do not mind ...>Not at all.

<was there any place in the Akobian game where we really blew it?>The play by the team in the opening is our weakest trait. We just cannot agree on what lines to play.

The team seemed to want to play a drawish opening line, and wanted to get out of the opening book as soon as possible. We did however, play the lines that equalized. Akobian made no major mistakes, but we should have played into opening positions where our computing advantage might have led Akobian into difficulties.

I will spend some time over the next few days looking back to see if we could have improved...

LIFE Master AJ: I agree with you ... we should have played the ...b5 line. If White takes the Pawn, Black gets way ahead in development.

Most GM's don't grab the material. GM Nakamura played this line this year in CORUS / Wijk aan Zee.

I recommended it to the team, no one seemed interested. My analysis shows that Black comes out of the opening with a slight edge.

LIFE Master AJ: BTW, I don't care what anyone thought, I thought that the combination (to end the game, forcing perpetual/3-time repetition) was very pretty ... easily one of the "KOOLER" ways to end the game in a draw that I have ever seen.

I added a note after White's 11th move.

Basically, its just a link to the game here, I re-copied your analysis to Nakamura vs Ivanchuk, 2011.

Thanks again for doing that analysis!

(Its strange. I thought that the line MUST be winning for Black, that is why Nakamura avoided it. If its only equal, I am not sure why "Nak" side-stpped it, maybe he could not figure it out OTB ... or possibly he just did not like the looks of it.)

I'm sure you must know by now, but there are a series of articles in chessbase.com that are investigating the discrediting of Vasik Rajlich for plagiarism in creating Rybka in an article titled <A Gross Miscarriage of Justice> by Dr. Søren Riis.

It appears that not only is Rajlich innocent of these charges but that:

<Ironically, it is the ICGA which may have committed an illegal act in publishing a disassembly of Rybka 2.3.2a, a commercial product still under license, on the Internet:

Article 6 of the 1991 EU Computer Programs Directive allows reverse engineering for the purposes of interoperability, but prohibits it for the purposes of creating a competing product, and <also prohibits the public release of information obtained through reverse engineering of software.>>

http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp... is Part 1 of the article
