Mar-28-13 Grischuk vs Carlsen, 2013 (replies)

Rob Morrison: 17. Rxd5 Nxf3+ 18. Kf1 looks to me like black's losing a pawn plain and simple--and with white's king perfectly safe.

   Jan-24-13 Y Yu vs E Torre, 2009

Rob Morrison: Sixteen moves with the white knights. Exactly half the game.

Jan-22-13 Cochrane vs Mohishunder, 1854 (replies)

Rob Morrison: Game of the day is about pretty conclusions. 27. Qxf8+ is pretty and 27. Bxf7+ is ugly, or at least mundane, and therefore 27. Qxf8+ is the correct move.

Jan-13-13 Aronian vs Carlsen, 2013 (replies)

Rob Morrison: Could be a mistake in the score. I also don't see why black isn't winning a piece, plain and simple, with 18. . . f4.

   Jan-08-13 I Maris vs S Estremera Panos, 2012

Rob Morrison: Oops!

   Dec-26-12 E Lobron vs Adams, 1992

Rob Morrison: Yes, but as 4tmac and 12.12.12 correctly note, white should have escaped with 64. Kh6, which indeed does draw. It surprises me that a player as strong as Lobron would have missed that.

   Nov-12-12 K Spraggett vs A Vuilleumier, 2012 (replies)

Rob Morrison: Quite the positional slugfest. I'm exhausted just playing it through on chessgames.com. Kevin, very nice bringing home of the point.

   Oct-22-12 B Dubessay vs K Spraggett, 2012

Rob Morrison: What a heartbreaker for white. After 45 . . . Qb5 black certainly has some initiative, but gee, the extra piece should count for something. Plausible tries for white include the passive 46. Bd1 and the aggressive 46. Ng6!?

   Sep-30-12 Bilbao Masters (2012) (replies)

Rob Morrison: <Don't you think that Kasparov shares the spot with Fischer? BF had played in two Candidates tournaments by age 18. I don't think Kasparov had made it to one (in his case, the 6 game elimination matches being used at the time). I don't want to go off on some Fischer rant, ...

Sep-25-12 Caruana vs Carlsen, 2012 (replies)

Rob Morrison: I'm delighted to see that a player of Carlsen's caliber is capable of being in a complete dead draw and then botch everything up by overreaching and then get crushed.
