I enjoy teaching chess, especially to children. I enjoy a longer game of chess better than blitz. I play both OTB and correspondence chess.

Longest OTB game I ever played was 204 moves for 7 hours and 45 minutes. Full Member

Robin01: How about 3.75 points for a win, 1.45 points for a loss, and 2.35 points for a draw, and that way we can get the math people more interested in the game also!:)
Jun-25-15 Topalov vs Anand, 2015 (replies)
Robin01: I wonder why Anand would play an opening with such a high level of draws, considering he needs to win to clinch the tournament.

   Jun-24-15 A Giri vs Topalov, 2015 (replies)
Robin01: Looks like Giri is more familiar with this opening than Topalov given the large time difference in the opening.

Robin01: My predictions redone. I accidently left Manedyarov in twice instead of Anand. Sorry about that. Games are stilling going, I believe, and it is early in the tournament, but if it is too late now, then that is the way it is. 1. Carlsen 2. Caruana 3. So 4/5. Kramnik ...

Robin01: Here is one of my recent OTB games. Due to extreme time pressure, I missed a mate-in-three on move 32!:( I saw a neat mate if black would have captured my queen on move 32, but alas, he captured my knight and it ended in a perpetual. I probably missed one mate because I was concentrating on another. Anyhow, it was a fun game since at one point I actually had two pieces hanging (queen and knight).

This kind of a problem often arises when one has two mates :-)

Here are some comments followed by a pgn with some suggestions.

1. I don't play the Sicilian so I started at about move <10...O-O>.

2. I didn't necessarily take the engine's first choice, but instead tried to keep my suggestions in line with your style and the flow of the game.

3. I think you could accelerate the development of you pieces a bit. You often played good moves, but delayed by a move or two. At move 15, for example,

you played <15...Bf5>. Some alternatives were <Re8> protecting the bishop and getting on the e-file (this is a common move in some variations of the French), <Rc8> getting on the c-file, and the French-inspired <Qb6> pressuring <b2>. Another option here is <15…Bb4> with <16…Ne4> to follow. This was an engine suggestion and takes some calculation to see that Black eventually picks up the <d4> pawn when the smoke has cleared.

4. I have a new category of <annoying moves>. You could, for example, have played <20…Qa5> with ideas of <...Bd2>.

5. I didn't like your giving up the center with <25....dxc4>. <26.Bxc4> would have put you under real pressure:

Your opponent let you off the hook by playing <30.a5>
