"At night I dream about Kramnik. I dream that he has accepted the offer for a return match in Sofia. Or that I go for a long walk with him in Moscow, after which we visit an exclusive nightclub."

- Veselin Topalov

"His genius lies in his originality. Anand stands out among the many whom I have played against, and sticks in the memory. Here there is something special, Eastern, unfamiliar to us. We probably have a different view not only of life, but also of the chessboard..."

- Anatoli Karpov

"Anand's success at rapid chess doesn't take deep analysis. Long before he became a household name (well, in chess households), Anand was playing classical chess at rapid chess speed. Back then the Indian teen was shocking the oldsters with his insanely fast play, causing them to grumble about his "tricks." Nowadays, in the words of one of those abused veterans, Viktor Korchnoi, "he knows tricks and everything else too!"

- Mig

"It ain't about what happened. You understand? It's about using what happened to our advantage. Play, or you gonna get played..."

- Avon Barksdale

SetNoEscapeOn: <siamesedream: <Bondsamir> Maybe he's preparing for April match agaist Anand? ;) He won't play in tournament where Anand will.> As far as this tournament goes, none of the "big 5" are taking part because they all have secured their spots in the 2010 candidates ...

SetNoEscapeOn: <KamikazeAttack: <Seems like they know each-other pretty well... and maybe Topa has run out of Cheparinov "bombs"... > Well, Cheparinov is to Topalov what Kasimdzhanov is to Anand:)> I hope Kasim will still be on for the Bonn match, but Anand has confirmed that ...

SetNoEscapeOn: Anand will need a great finish and a little help to catch Carlsen now.

Nov-17-09 Karjakin vs Carlsen, 2009 (replies)

SetNoEscapeOn: And of course, if Rb4 to keep the bishop protected, Carlsen would have finished matters with a fourth straight move in your theme, a5.

   Nov-16-09 Viswanathan Anand (replies)

SetNoEscapeOn: Let's also remember that Anand finished the event on +1, had a performance rating of over 2800, and even gained a couple of rating points. He made the same score that Topalov made in China, but this was a much stronger tournament. And he did it while employing a "new" defense ...

SetNoEscapeOn: <sallom89: The title says draw all over the place! unless Winnik really want's to win.> Nor really, Kramnik has been crushing Leko with regularity since their 2004 match.

Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-18-08   ravel5184: <SetNoEscapeOn> What's up with your forum? Only 0 kibitzes? (well 1 now).
Aug-28-08   tud: He has a lot in common with Anand.
Sep-30-08   Duck McCluck: Hi,

when is the anand-kramnik match tentatively scheduled? Do you know if like a chess-radio covers it?

Oct-05-08   chessamateur: You seem to be one of the more informative and level headed kibitzers around here. Glad to have you at chessgames.com.
Oct-06-08   Duck McCluck: Well, chess is like poetry. It can be a medium through which creativity is expressed...

or it can be a math equation.

You chose, if you want simple plain-and-nuts, then go get rybka. If you want Cognac, then you read a chess book written by someone who believed in what they were talking about.

Oct-06-08   Augalv: <chessamateur: You seem to be one of the more informative and level headed kibitzers around here. Glad to have you at chessgames.com.>

<SetNo> is a very instructive, self-composed and a very respectful kibitzer.

Oct-08-08   Eggman: Hey <SetNoEscapeOn>. Thanks for putting together that Kramnik-Anand classical collection. One thing though: I understand why you have ommited the not-so-interesting draws, but their inclusion would give the overall picture of what to expect from the upcoming match, including which openings were most likely. I've never put a game collection together before: is there some way you could highlight the decisive games and interesting draws while at the same time being all-inclusive?
Oct-09-08   you vs yourself: If he includes all games, then it'd defeat the purpose of a game collection. They can just look all of them up on chessgames.com. But if they want the good ones, they can look at his collection.
Oct-09-08   Eggman: <you vs yourself> The point you're missing is that SetNoEscapeOn has compiled a collection of, importantly, CLASSICAL games between Kramnik and Anand. There is no Chessgames.com feature that allows one to search for games by time control.

This is exactly what happened, but now I'm back. New game collection on Anand's KO adventures, <you vs yourself> I'm sure you'll like it, at least.

I am sure that that will help. Thanks for responding.

<Thinking of Kasparov-Karpov again, I can't help but feel that that was a REAL World Championship Match. Anyone else, especially those old enough to remember it, have that feeling>

You might have seen it, but if you go to the page for that match here there is a link to an amazing video where Kasparov and Karpov analyze the entire second half of the match (separately of course, not together). And yes it was an amazing struggle.>

You posted this in the Anand vs Kramnik page. Can you please tell me which link it is exactly? There are five Kasparov-Karpov world championship pages, and I don't know which one you were referring to.

Cheers!

You have the best "collection of collections" that I've seen on this site. I'm enjoying them, thanks for putting them together.> You're quite welcome! The best thanks I always receive is news that my collections are helpful or enjoyable to my fellow kibitzers. I'm glad you enjoy them!
