   Mar-09-11 Robert James Fischer (replies)

Stefan Teplan: Forget about that for a while and let us commemorate Fischer's 68th birthday today! We honour him best remembering him for his brilliant chess and not for other things (we are all aware there are a lot of things in his life and his statements which do not so much - to put it ...

   Dec-13-06 Vladimir Kramnik (replies)

Stefan Teplan: Can anyone tell me what are the real ELO-rates of Kramnik and Topalov now? It's December 15th and FIDE still has the ratings of October on its official website. I asked them when they are going to update it and wrote two posting inquiring about Topalov's current rating but ...

   Dec-05-06 Kramnik - Deep Fritz (2006) (replies)

Stefan Teplan: I guess the idea of ...Ng8 is to develop the bishop via f6 to e5 and then play ...Nd7 in order to advance the black d-pawn which will give Black a strong pawn formation in the centre

   Dec-04-06 Mikhail Tal (replies)

Stefan Teplan: <The hachett man> Yeah, I read it. There is no new analysis compared to his biography, it's more lectures and exercises on middlegame and endgame strategy, but very instructive.

Nov-25-06 Blind Chess World Duel (2006) (replies)

Stefan Teplan: I am just an average club player but I happened to always win when playing blindfold games vs.opponents of equal strength, i.e. an approximate rating 1900. That probably gave me confidence. I quit playing chess in tournaments and in a club many years ago because unfortunately ...

Nov-21-06 Timman vs Geller, 1973 (replies)

Stefan Teplan: I did some more research on that issue. According to various sources Geller suggested to Spassky 16...Qb7 (after 14...a6 15. dxc5 bxc5 16. 0-0) but not 14...Qb7. However, some chess authors claim that Spassky was not fond of that suggestion by Geller's and chose 16...Ra7 ...

   Oct-23-06 Judit Polgar (replies)

Stefan Teplan: Wow, great game of Judit!Congratulations to the best woman in chess ever!

   Oct-22-06 Essent Tournament (2006) (replies)

Stefan Teplan: So the games are going on in Playchess? And I already assumed the Bulgarian secret service turned the power off and Danailov is going to demand the games have to be repeated for some strange reason (he can be quite creative)

Oct-20-06 Spassky - Fischer World Championship Match (1972) (replies)

Stefan Teplan: As a chessplayer you should have a better memory and not ignore facts. Before Fischer beat Spassky he smashed the whole world elite (save Spassky) in a manner never heard of before in chess history, at least not after Morphy. Just remember Fischer's results at the candidates ...
