Apr-24-13		kudubux: Hey <Switch>! What do you think of 1.Nf3 followed by 2.b3 pattern? I played in a 45 minute club tournament using Kramnik's new pet and got a +1 =3 result with it.

Apr-24-13		SwitchingQuylthulg: <kudubux> I'm not sure, I don't play it that way :) I suppose it helps cut some of Black's more aggressive options (compared to <1. b3>), but it also cuts some of White's more aggressive options by blocking f4, frequently a good move. Additionally, you'll have to prepare something against 1...g6... H Pohla vs J Yuchtman, 1966 ...why am I not surprised you scored so many draws? ;-)

Apr-24-13		kudubux: I am a long time fan of 1.b3, you know, but I've opened my doors to flexibility since here in our club one needs to widen his repertoire to accomodate more "clients". :) I don't know much about painting but I know a lot about DRAWing. A common joke of me in our club is they describe me as a player "Rich in DRAWING tactics".

Apr-26-13		brankat: <kudubux> You could try this sequence: 1.b3, 2.c3, 3.Bb2 (to over-protect <c3>), 4.Na3, 5.Nc2, 6.a4! Your Queen's flank is fully developed! Now You need only some 6-7 moves to do the King's wing. After about move #15 You can start focusing on the issues of the Center. I'm pretty sure <Switch> would approve of the approach :-)

Apr-26-13		kudubux: <Branko> Believe it or not, I have tried that setup in blitz games, adding the maneuver Ra2 and Qa1. Confused opponents would then be overly eager to punish my flamboyant opening and end up having too weaknesses on the Queenside.

May-16-13		brankat: <Switch> Are You betting on number of moves. Also on final standings? That should be considerably tougher than games' outcomes, and they are not easy ones either. At least there are no c-bucks needed there ;-)
