   Aug-02-17 Sinquefield Cup (2017) (replies)
Tal1949: Top 3- 1. Karjakin 2. Nakamura 3. So Carlsen mid field and a grumpy boy look.
   Jun-17-17 Altibox Norway (2017) (replies)
Tal1949: The 2016 WC combatants scored 7.5 out of 18. quick the world moves on. Just goes to show that the top 10 are closer than any other point in history due to engines and opening prep.
May-20-17 FIDE Grand Prix Moscow (2017) (replies)
Tal1949: <TD> A strong tournament? Carlsen, So, Caruana, Kramnik, Vachier-Lagrave, Anand, Nakamura, Karjakin, Aronian, Giri. Norway Chess 2017.
Apr-18-17 GRENKE Chess Classic (2017) (replies)
Tal1949: People like Hou are the women I admire- not the ones who hide behind reverse racism or sexism like most do- but perform to a high level on the open playing field of the international chess world.
   Apr-10-17 US Championship (2017) (replies)
Tal1949: Support Giri?? Not even the most rabid So fans would do that! Well, I hope not. Lol. At least support someone who wins games.
   Dec-03-16 Staunton - Saint Amant (1843) (replies)
Tal1949: Playing through the games with Stockfish 8 at the moment. I am very surprised just how good Staunton was. Sure, his openings had much to be desired by modern standards- but damn could he play the endgame! No wonder Morphy wanted to test his skills against him.
Dec-01-16 Carlsen - Karjakin World Championship (2016) (replies)
Tal1949: What was the purpose of having us sit through a month of chess when we could have just played 4 rapids on day one... Oh yes, this was all about finding some Christmas money for the competitors. Sorry, carry on. Cynical view aside. Congrats to both men. Karjakin was a very close ...
Nov-21-16 Carlsen vs Karjakin, 2016 (replies)
Tal1949: Karjakin's amazing run with black continues. In the Candidates he could easily have lost games to Caruana, Svidler & Aronian but managed to draw all three. Now he beats the WC. Amazing!
Nov-14-16 Carlsen vs Karjakin, 2016 (replies)
Tal1949: Looks like game 3 is where things always kick off. Congrats to both men and lets settle back for a great match. Awesome to see Karjakin find the correct defense with clock ticking.
   Nov-06-16 D Byrne vs Fischer, 1956 (replies)
Tal1949: Grabbing the queen (18. Bxb6) was certainly a disaster. The flood gates opened after that. 18. Qxc3 was still a loss but the position would not have looked so embarrassing. Great finish by the young Bobby. Every black piece/pawn is defended and he controls every square. Wow!
