Hello! My name is Uros and welcome to my forum. If you have time, you can also visit (and contribute to) User: Memorable Quotes.

Some chess anecdotes I've posted here and there:

Adrian Mikhalchishin

Anatoli Karpov

Boris Spassky

Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian

Heikki M J Westerinen

Rudolf Spielmann

Ossip Bernstein

Dragoljub Velimirovic

Aleksandar Matanovic

Robert James Fischer

TheAlchemist chessforum

Vladimir Lepeshkin

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Game collections: TheAlchemist's Game Collections and Memorable Quotes' Game Collections. I should add that most projects are still unfinished, I don't know when they'll be completed, if at all.

Game Collection: Brilliancies By "Unknowns" used to get the most praise, so I might as well advertise it.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I apologize for my frequent typos and my inability to communicate thoughts in a more concise manner, often I just think too slow, type too fast and fail to notice. Also, I often just won't "get it", so many jokes and/or pop culture references will get lost on me. You might also have noticed my overuse of commas, I guess I subconsciously apply our grammar rules to English :-). Anyway, bear with me. Over and out.

TheAlchemist: An anecdote... Pirc and Vidmar used to play a lot during WW2 (reportedly they played more than a thousand unofficial games during the war and around two thousand in total). Their games often attracted many kibitzers (mosquitoes, as Vidmar used to call them), most of them ...

TheAlchemist: The location should be Rogaška Slatina. For our pun-loving friends, white's name Lešnik means nut (no, not in that sense, but as in hazelnut).

TheAlchemist: His analyses are always interesting. One recent graph I've noticed many times before is this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wsmxAQJo2... And I wonder how come the other clubs haven't revolted yet. To me it is a farce, over time it makes a huge difference.

TheAlchemist: Along with O M Hindle vs G Moehring, 1964 and T Espig vs G Moehring, 1973 , this is another of Möhring's games that features a stunning winning move. In the following position [DIAGRAM] 86.Qh3!! is the only way to avoid a perpetual and is a winning move at that. I know there ...

TheAlchemist: <Warning: killjoy mode activated> For the record, his surname is spelled Panić, the last letter pronounced as ch (as in chop) and "a" as in car. The name Nenad is derived from "nenadan", which means sudden, surprising, unexpected, something like that (nada=hope). ...

I'm sure You'll love this one (unless You've seen it already). A long article about / bio of Dr.Vidmar: "A Slovenian Leonardo", together with some rare photos and pictures. A few games, too.

The text is in Russian. You should probably be able to understand most of it. Enjoy:

  brankat: Hi Uros!

This in regard to todays POTD, A.Mikhalchishin. You posted on his page a while back.

<TheAlchemist: This was an article written by Mikhalchishin when he turned 50. I apologize in advance for any typos and other mistakes, hopefully there won't be too many.

<Part I>

The Golden Chess Age - The 20th Century!

Dr. Milan Vidmar wrote the brilliant book "Goldene Schachzeiten", which describes the 1920's and 30's. Vidmar, among other things, predicted a world crisis and that it would all lead to a catastrophe (which indeed happened with WWII).> etc

You ended the post with:

<(I have to wrap this one up, other parts coming shortly)>

This was 1 year and 7 months ago. Still patiently waiting for Part II ;-)
