   Mar-23-17 Viktor Korchnoi (replies)

Troller: <offramp: I believe Korchnoi had aspirations to be an actor but he had a speech impediment.> Yes, according to Larsen (citing another Russian if I recall correctly), he had trouble pronouncing the word "draw".

Mar-21-17 Karpov vs Kasparov, 1984 (replies)

Troller: <Feb-19-10 Billy Ray Valentine: I'm surprised this has never been a Game Of The Day.> Well, all good comes to those who wait. 17.Rfc1! is vintage Karpov. In his own analysis I think he mentions he did not calculate everything, but he felt that this plan would win the pawn.

   Mar-20-17 Winter Classic (2017) (replies)

Troller: I see also Zherebukh is now American. It does not seem to have paid off chesswise, but maybe he is playing chess as an amateur nowadays.

Mar-20-17 Ruifeng Li vs D Howell, 2017 (replies)

Troller: Indeed, well fought. Also I am happy to see that Black invites the Bronstein-Larsen variation, although White did not comply.

   Mar-17-17 Larsen vs Yusupov, 1985

Troller: <20..Rab8 21.Rae1 Rfe8 22.Rxe6 Rxe6 23.Bd5 Rbe8 24.f4 f5 25.g4 Kf6 26.g5+ Kf7> [DIAGRAM] The eternal pin.

   Mar-14-17 David Howell (replies)

Troller: David is in the lead in the A-group of the St Louis "Winter Classic". This new tournament presents itself as <the first of four tournaments each year> which sounds very promising. The Winter Classic has 2 groups, each a 10-player RR. The A-group is quite strong, with only 2 ...

   Mar-07-17 V Fedoseev vs M Kraemer, 2017 (replies)

Troller: It is most certainly book, so there will be some analysis somewhere. But 13.dxc5 Nxc5 leaves White with a difficult task of developing, whereas Black has e.g. Bf5, Rd8 and Ne4 as an easy gameplan. The d5-pawn will be extremely difficult to hold.

Mar-06-17 Tal Memorial (Rapid) (2017) (replies)

Troller: The Tal Memorial 2016 was the classical Moscow Tournament organized by the Russian Chess Federation. That tournament has had different names over the years I believe. I do not think the RCF has anything to do with this event, so no need to compare them.

   Feb-28-17 Aeroflot Open (2017) (replies)

Troller: This is so far a semi-disaster for Adhiban after his strong showing at Tata. His highest rated opponent in the first 7 rounds was 2573, yet Adhiban has lost 3 and won only 1 game. Rating loss 22,2 at the moment. After 7 rounds the top 8 players are Jobava and 7 Russians. But in ...

   Feb-23-17 Women's World Championship (2017) (replies)

Troller: <GiuocoPianoMan> Still best of 2 games. The final is best of 4.
