   Oct-24-09 Yudasin vs R Furdzik, 2000 (replies)

UrVileWedge: Realistically, probably rating shock. Black's a 2200. Sure, he's got the far better game, up the exchange, with that e pawn that can get very, very dangerous, but he's playing Yudasin. I'm sure we've all see enough GMs pull off swindles in positions like these to have second ...

Oct-08-09 Filguth vs A De la Garza, 1980 (replies)

UrVileWedge: Just to elaborate on Lafreak III, after Bg5, hxg falls to hxg, leading to a double attack on the queen and a mate threat on h7. That's why the queen needs to go to h1 and not g2

   Sep-22-09 E Williams vs Staunton, 1851 (replies)

UrVileWedge: It's a terrible move, but the idea of ...40 bxa2 is so visually appealing, that I almost wish Staunton had played to get isolated tripled pawns on the a file like that.

   Sep-22-09 Illescas-Cordoba vs Adams, 1992 (replies)

UrVileWedge: Hard to believe Micky Adams falls apart so quickly here. Ng5 threatens mate and wins the exchange after Bxb7 if the knight is taken.

Sep-21-09 Smyslov vs Averbakh, 1946 (replies)

UrVileWedge: Can someone explain to me why white can't simply play 22 Kxf1. ? ... Qd1+ doesn't work, because of 23 Ne1, followed by Bb2 at some later time. I don't see any other obvious counterpunches.

UrVileWedge: Who gave them ratings? lol.

Sep-12-09 Aronian vs Shirov, 2009 (replies)

UrVileWedge: I'm not so certain. Everyone in the top has had tournaments where they've dominated. Anand might not be as hot as Aronian is now, but can Aronian carry the distance? He's had some problems with that in the past. My vote is that it's too early to tell.

   Sep-03-09 A Hollis vs T Florian, 1972

UrVileWedge: Yes it is. On ..62 Kh2, 63Kd5, h3 64 Ke4, Kh1, 65 Kf3, h2 66 Kg3, Kg1 67 Kh3+ and black has to either step away and let his pawn get taken, or ..67 Kh1 68 Ra6, Kg1 69 Ra1+ and black loses his pawn.

   Jul-26-08 Gennadi Sagalchik

UrVileWedge: They're married. Have 2 kids. They're very nice. (I've studied with him on and off for must be 6 years now)
