Hi, my name is Greg & I'm 59 years young. I have been playing chess for over 50 of those 59 years. Between the years 1968 & 1990 I was quite active. I was a member of the USCF, CCA(Cleveland Chess Association),Parma Chess Club(south of Cleveland) & captained the Gilmour Academy(Gates Mills,Ohio) chess team 1970 till 1972 when I graduated. My rating during those years(1968-90) fluctuated between 1750 to 1950. Played in the State Championship (OCC-Ohio Chess Congress) a couple of times in the 1980's with modest results (+1,-3,=2 first time & +2,-2,=2 second time). I might have done better but my style is aggressive & it often cost me points in tournaments. Since 1990 I stopped playing competitive chess & still enjoy playing but only casually. My strong suit has always been the analyses of games. I have always had a passion for the game & still do. ______________________________________________

DcGentle: <WinKing>: *hmmm* Thanks for the reminder, but I dunno yet whether I'll join either team, currently I have a lot work to do. I can imagine that you are discussing openings.

I have to make up my mind before next Monday, right? Joining later is not possible, I guess.

DcGentle: <WinKing> I have got a question. They say, Computer usage is forbidden, but databases are allowed. *hmm* How about private databases? I guess, only public ones are allowed, am I right?

morfishine: Good to hear from you <Winking>! Yes, someone <I forget> mentioned that Team Black was loaded; Once the top tier players for White started checking in, it appears we are equally loaded; Maybe this person was intimidated that <Honza> is on Team Black...who knows...we'll do fine and again, I like what you said about <1.d4> :)

WinKing: <OhioChessFan: If you want to jump in with the HOF idea, just go for it. I think people will accept any reasonable idea you set up.>

<OCF> I think I'm just going to list an updated version of the HOF list after each contest. Trying to link all three contests & have an agreement on the condition for titles & such seems too difficult.

OhioChessFan: Okay. That idea is fine and leaves open the possibility of consolidation.

  Golden Executive:

< WinKing: Nice performance in the prediction contests <GoldenExecutive>! I have updated the HOF list in my forum. You are now *one of only ten members* to have won a gold in all three contests - congratulations.

Welcome to the 'Hat Trick' club! :)>

Thank you very much my friend for visiting my forum, you are always welcome. I am surprised there are only ten members having gold in all three prediction contests, I am much more surprised I am one of them!.

Now the big deal: All-Gold : <chessmoron>,<YouRang>,<lostemperor> and <ChessBookie> īs prediction contests:

Only <WinKing> and <SwitchingQuylthulg> belong.

OhioChessFan: It is odd to see the various contest results. I am pretty much horrible in <lostemperor> and <ChessBookie> usually competitive in <YouRang> and inexplicably good in <chessmoron> I have seen people who are Top 10 material in <ChessBookie> but tailenders in <YouRang> and <chessmoron>

Yeah you see that kind of stuff all the time <OCF> especially in sports. Reminds me of the movie 'Major League' when Pedro Cerrano says "Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid." I have come to accept <OCF> that we all have our 'Achilles Heels'.
