Apr-27-13 Lenderman vs S Zierk, 2012
| |
a q maclanahan: After 21...Qd3 22QxRf8#
| | Nov-02-12 Gelfand vs Kramnik, 1997
| |
a q maclanahan: I think "Petrosian" is a mistake. He favored 8.Qd2 not 8.Rc1.
| | Sep-28-12 S Morris vs F Marchand, 1992
| |
a q maclanahan: Got it. 30... Rfd3+ 31. gf (forced) Rf3+ 32. Kg2 Qf1#. Simple.
| | Sep-22-12 A Valsecchi vs P Bontempi, 2012
| |
a q maclanahan: I usually never get a Saturday. This one was obvious.
| | Aug-26-12 Y Zherebukh vs A Shneider, 2011
| |
a q maclanahan: I never get Sundays until today.
| | Aug-24-12 P Nguyen vs H Tikkanen, 2011
| |
a q maclanahan: I rarely get Friday puzzles. It seemed to me Black's hand was pretty forced.
| | Aug-20-12 V Mikhalevski vs R Gardner, 2012
| |
a q maclanahan: Yes, my solution was Qd8+.
| | Apr-14-12 E Najer vs I Kurnosov, 2007
| |
a q maclanahan: No 42.Ke4 is not correct. I have the game cited in Chess Opening Essentials v 3 with the move 42.Kc3 1-0. After 42.Kc3 the passed pawn is lost and Black resigns.

| | Mar-19-11 Speelman vs H Ree, 1978
| |
a q maclanahan: i think Speelman missed a win. 28. Rxh7+ KxRf7 or the black Queen drops. W follows with 29. Qh2+ (interposing with the Queen loses) Kg7 30. Hh8 mate is what i see.
| | Dec-16-10 H Ree vs Hort, 1986
| |
a q maclanahan: I saw the solution but also think there might be another that suffers from being more complicated but which gives up less material. 59... Bf2+ 60.Kf2 Rh4. This let's the White Q escape but I think Black's fortress is still secure.
