Dutch.

Chessgames.com helped me a lot analyzing games and looking at ideas.

I started playing with 1. d4, but recently play 1. e4 as well, because I love the spanish game and though I might like playing against the sicilian, which is, in fact, very fun to do.

At the moment I'm trying to improve on my difficulties beating players going purely for a draw playing on structure only (Caro-Kann, Scandinavian)

aktajha: it starts with coordinated pieces at move 52, then this is used to gain a space advantage (56) and a better king position (68). The rest is history! But still, one can't stop thinking there should be a draw somewhere after move 52.

aktajha: love the concept of bringing the king quickly to the queenside starting from move 34

aktajha: <wfarmia> 42. Rxc2 Qe4 forks rook and bishop and defends the checking square e3.

aktajha: < I don't think so. Entering the first round of the 128-player World Cup, no player could have reasonably been given better than a 4-5% chance of winning> So that's stating that about 16 people are of equal strength (covering 80% of the win chance) and the remaining cover 20%.

aktajha: you've been throwing around a lot of %'s the last two days. Care to elaborate on your method and/or definition? Otherwise they're just plain useless for the rest of us.

   Feb-19-11 Charousek vs J Wollner, 1893 (replies)

aktajha: <potter641> and the current mate is prettier than mating with a Queen. Always time for aesthetics in chess :)

Dec-05-10 Ulf Andersson vs Tal, 1983 (replies)

aktajha: <Ulhumbrus> I've often encountered posts of yours with dogmatic comment as "disturbs the king side pawns without necessity". Indeed, we learn our chess-playing children some ground rules so they won't falter quickly. However, after gaining some experience position analysis ...

aktajha: http://nos.nl/video/191776-het-eers... The first dutch tv-news ever, with attention (first item) for the dutch championships, which euwe won! Note the family way of handling such a tense situation, just hanging some paintings upside-down!
