'Defending the truth is not something one does out of a sense of duty or to allay guilt complexes, but is a reward in itself.' - Simon de Beauvoir

For a long time now, I have been wanting to put my forum to some use. Starting today, I am creating a collection of clips from popular media (TV shows, Films, Music videos) where there is some kind of reference to Chess.

30 July, 2008

1. It must have been love - Roxette

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0DN...

Watch from 2:48 - 2:52

31 July, 2008

2. Chess scene from Choti Si Baat

A clip from one of my favourite Indian movies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9b7...

Watch from 3:17 - 5.05 (Grandmaster Klotosov :))

Of course you can watch the whole clip for a glimpse of 1970s Bombay.

3. The famous chess scene from The Thomas Crown Affair

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mtd8...

This would easily qualify for some other collections as well.

1 August 2008

4. Chess scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge

One of Indian Cinema's biggest hits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ck...

Watch from 8.00 - 8.40

arifattar: <mack> Yeah that was something hard to digest. But if he is fooling the public, how is he being allowed to? I was also referring to Dan Brown and his latest book. The BBC seems to be hell bent on revealing everything before I get the chance to read it.

arifattar: Thanks <you vs yourself> <810609> <Jim Bartle> It is interesting how some players just vanish into oblivion and others just stay around in the limelight. Lendl was my childhood favourite. Just saw him on that website after a long long time. Thanks. He famously ...

arifattar: Hey <OD> Just wondering if you have watched 'Rock ON'. I watched it two days back and have watched it twice since then. What's the opinion in the rock circuit in Bangalore about the film? Considering that it is the first time our film industry has attempted anything like ...

arifattar: <placidbro>'s combination covers 90 years, mine covers 96. What is the greatest number of years covered in the least number of combinations? NN, of course, is not invited to the party.

arifattar: Wow. Just went through some of her games. And just did a google search. She was representing Afghanistan at the Olympics. [unknown player] Surely, Afghanistan has better players than this to represent them at the Olympics. Just can't understand.

arifattar: <hitman84> Thanks a lot. No I have never been inside either of these hotels. But the Taj in the background with the Gateway of India has always been Bombay's postcard picture. And it will remain so.
