I am seventeen years old and have been playing chess for about a year. I am rated 1859 in the Chess Federation of Canada. I expect to better that rating in the coming year though, as I will become more active in the tournament scene. I live in Ontario, Canada.

My favourite opening to play as white is the Ruy Lopez (classical lines-no exchange), and as black I prefer the Caro-Kann Defence Capablanca Variation.

I just created a chess blog at www.chessspace.blogspot.com/ I intend to annotate my games there and maybe share my views on top-level chess.

   Mar-12-10 L Henry vs S Thavandiran, 2009

baseballplayer: I am fairly certain that this should be changed to Liam Henry.

   Dec-18-09 Magnus Carlsen (replies)

baseballplayer: <acirce> Thanks, that's a long time!

   Nov-28-09 BNbank Blitz (2009) (replies)

baseballplayer: Surprised to see Nakamura beat Carlsen.

Sep-14-08 Grand Slam Chess Final (2008) (replies)

baseballplayer: Anand recieved 30 000 Euros for finishing in last!

May-28-08 Janowski vs Schlechter, 1899 (replies)

baseballplayer: I looked at Nf5 winning the exchange and with accurate defence I believe white can win with the rook for the night.

Feb-06-08 Keres vs Korchnoi, 1959 (replies)

baseballplayer: I saw all the way up until Kortchnoi resigned, and decided that white was winning. It took me about five minutes though. A little bit long for a Wednesday.

   Dec-31-07 R Luscombe vs Keene, 1962 (replies)

baseballplayer: I saw that mate after 21...Qh7 could nt be avoided and did not look any further.

Dec-28-07 Najdorf vs Quinteros, 1968 (replies)

baseballplayer: I think the idea was to open the a-file for the white rook, because the bishop did virtually nothing on a7.

   Dec-27-07 Nezhmetdinov vs O Chernikov, 1962 (replies)

baseballplayer: I found 28.Bxf7+, but I feel a bit silly for not looking at Bxe5.

Dec-24-07 Rubinstein vs NN, 1902 (replies)

baseballplayer: I chose 16.Qh6. It leads to checkmate and in my opinion it is more practical than Qxh7, but checkmate is checkmate.
