   May-25-08 Blackburne vs J Fish, 1876 (replies)

bettermove: Wow- what a good game by the blindfolded Mr 'Black Death'! well played...

May-24-08 Lautier vs Ponomariov, 1999 (replies)

bettermove: I am continuing my investigation of the Schmid Benoni variation. This game is included in 'Starting out Benoni systems' by Raetsky & Chetverik as a Schmid Benoni illustrative game. Yet chessgames here call/classify it as a Benoni Kingside move order! -This naming is still ...

   May-24-08 V Bergraser vs L Schmid, 1956

bettermove: Hi all I am trying to figure out the Benoni variations.. I thought Old Benoni is 1.d4 c5 (2.dxc) but what is the Schmid Benoni? I think it is 1.d4 c5 2.d5 d6 3.Nc3 g6 So this game isn't a Schmid Benoni (actually an Old Benoni as described!)? I must investigate this ...

   Jan-29-08 A Hrdy vs H Haberditz, 1951

bettermove: Very nice black moves!Fine Chigorin defence game!

   Jan-03-08 M Cebalo vs Keene, 1967 (replies)

bettermove: Hi ray keene I have in my database another game of yours vs Cebalo which is not listed here (This game was a Slav defence & the start details are: [White "Miso Cebalo"] [Black "Raymond Keene"] [Event "World Student Team Championship Harrachov 1967"] [ECO "Slav"] ...

Sep-22-07 Rublevsky vs Tkachiev, 2007 (replies)

bettermove: Phew -that was quite a hectic Scotch (some Scotch games are calmer and can go on over 50 moves or so).Rublevsky seems to be a bit of a Scotch specialist (eg see Rubleskvy vs Vajda 2004)

   Sep-22-07 Ni Hua vs E Inarkiev, 2007

bettermove: Ni Hua is rolling along nicely with this variation of the Scotch as he disposed of J Rowson also with a similar Scotch game.

Aug-03-07 Larsen vs Petrosian, 1966 (replies)

bettermove: Weird game?! What a fascinating style Petrosian played this with.Err... how did he play like this? His chess playing style should come with a health warning...quite extraordinary!

Aug-03-07 Carlsen vs Radjabov, 2007 (replies)

bettermove: What an interesting game! With debate about the opening classification and the battle of 2 young would be chesskings.Great fun with a great finish (no boring draw here!).Well played both sides for this entertaining instructive game.

   Jul-22-07 Hastings (2006/07)

bettermove: What is going on with this game: Gagunashvili-Pert, draw after 3 moves!?? This is poor IMHO- was there a valid reason for this? Otherwise top class chess is up for ridicule if short agreed draws materialize like this! Whatever the reason perhaps in a top competition the rules ...
