In my upper 40's, single-parent raising my teenage daughter. My rating has fallen from the high 2100's to the mid 1900's mostly due to inactivity over the years. Poker and golf have replaced chess as my passion. I still enjoy the game, and have recently started playing tournaments again after many years' layoff. My best finish was a tie for 2nd (U2000)at the National Open in Las Vegas several years back.

caissafan1963: Chalk up another zero for Yifan. Bad tournament for her.

caissafan1963: I sure hope those of you here dissing Magnus as "weak" are at least Masters. But I doubt it.
   Aug-05-17 Carlsen vs M Vachier-Lagrave, 2017 (replies)
caissafan1963: I think white is looking for the right time to play Bc6 and Nxb6

caissafan1963: So trails by 1.5 points and has White against the leader. You can bet he will go all out.
Nov-21-16 Carlsen vs Karjakin, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: At least this game wasn't boring
Mar-25-16 Caruana vs Aronian, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: Svidler-Giri is also a dead draw, but Giri is torturing him
Mar-25-16 Nakamura vs Anand, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: 1-0 Naka. He needs to win out to have any chance at all.
Mar-15-16 Karjakin vs Anand, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: After Re6 and Nxd5, White can force a K+P ending and that's an easy win for even an average player.
Mar-14-16 Yifan Hou vs M Muzychuk, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: If you need a win as Black against e4, the Sicilian provides the best chance statistically.
Mar-11-16 Nakamura vs Caruana, 2016 (replies)
caissafan1963: Jambow, I agree about putting the knight on b5. This is going to be a tough endgame to win, but I don't see much for Black other than fighting for the 1/2 point.
