I've played since I was 5 but never really studied chess that hard otherwise I'd have a much higher rating than 1800. Maybe someday I will try but for now I just enjoy playing and that's enough for me.

Other Chess Info:

Favorite Player: Garry Kasparov because of his fierce competitiveness over the board.

Favorite Current Player: Viswanathan Anand , though I respect Vladimir Kramnik greatly.

Style: Safe and Positional Classical Style with an Occasional Affinity for tactical and dynamic play.

Favorite Chess Quote

"If there was no time I'd never lose a game"

-chessamateur, (reacting to yet another loss caused my time pressure in a drawish position)

Notable Accomplishments:

Not many, but one of them is something that not many can claim. I've beaten someone who has beaten Robert James Fischer

chessamateur: This game must be wrong/incomplete.

   Apr-30-18 N Paikidze vs A Wang, 2018 (replies)

chessamateur: Annie Wang lost on time here, but obviously the position had been lost for quite awhile anyways.

chessamateur: Virtual must win for Kramnik.

   Mar-18-18 Caruana vs Wojtkiewicz, 2002

chessamateur: <dumbgai: I read about this game in the Chess Life magazine at the time. That is how I learned the name Fabiano Caruana> Same! I remember thinking, who is this kid? Now he's a title contender. As for Wojtkiewicz, he was a much loved GM and it's a shame he died at the ...

chessamateur: There's an error in the standings. Alekhine should be on top, not listed in 2nd place.

   Jan-29-18 R Iglesias vs Capablanca, 1893 (replies)

chessamateur: <Sidhu: In this game, White plays without his Queen. Why and how?> It's an odds game where the stronger player plays without a piece (in this case a queen) to even the match up more.

   Oct-27-17 Kleopatra Kovalenko

chessamateur: She was born about 2 millennia too late.

Aug-17-17 St. Louis Rapid & Blitz (Blitz) (2017) (replies)

chessamateur: Wow, cannot believe Caruana lost to Nakamuru from that position. All he had to do was play 58. Qxc7 and it's over. A Patzer could have found this move.

   Aug-17-17 Tarrasch vs B Richter, 1883 (replies)

chessamateur: Nice counter, it'd be a nice Tuesday puzzle.
