I've played since I was 5 but never really studied chess that hard otherwise I'd have a much higher rating than 1800. Maybe someday I will try but for now I just enjoy playing and that's enough for me.

Other Chess Info:

Favorite Player: Garry Kasparov because of his fierce competitiveness over the board.

Favorite Current Player: Viswanathan Anand , though I respect Vladimir Kramnik greatly.

Style: Safe and Positional Classical Style with an Occasional Affinity for tactical and dynamic play.

Favorite Chess Quote

"If there was no time I'd never lose a game"

-chessamateur, (reacting to yet another loss caused my time pressure in a drawish position)

Notable Accomplishments:

Not many, but one of them is something that not many can claim. I've beaten someone who has beaten Robert James Fischer

chessamateur: Wow, cannot believe Caruana lost to Nakamuru from that position. All he had to do was play 58. Qxc7 and it's over. A Patzer could have found this move.

chessamateur: Nice counter, it'd be a nice Tuesday puzzle.

chessamateur: Garry can't finish period. If he were to play more often that would probably dissipate. Painful watching him blow position after position.

chessamateur: Great to see Anand still playing well at his age.

chessamateur: Carlsen, WC, #1 in the world and a model. Must be nice.

chessamateur: <HeMateMe: <Kasparov: 'Embrace' the AI revolution> <http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-... By contrast, he said, the Deep Blue supercomputer that beat him at chess in 1996 and 1997 was simply a very fast computer that used "brute force" techniques to win.> ...

chessamateur: <If only Kirsan had been running things in 1858, Anderssen would have eliminated Morphy in a 2-game knockout.> I enjoyed that!

chessamateur: Giving the trophy in a tie situation seems so un-Kasparov like. Good to see him be humble from time to time.
