The "2700 club" list disappeared from Wikipedia, and I have decided to pack it up as well, in protest. Aerosvit was not included in the July calculations and therefore Carlsen has been shafted until October. However, a similar late-tourney favor was granted to Anand earlier this year, which reeks of sheer favoritism. I'll have none of it.

chessya11: Darn. I saw the first two moves, then lost instantly with 18. Qg8 (obviously Kxg8). I thought it was a smothered mate with the knight.

chessya11: Or, you could just look at his statistics: draw, draw, draw, draw, repeat ad diarrheum...and leave the book on the shelf.

chessya11: To quote from Whitman: <What I don't understand is why players insist on playing 1...Nf6 when Stefanova has White. Stefanova has one answer to that, the Tromp. And invariably she knows the opening better than her opponent and wins. This to me signals that you must either (A) ...

chessya11: <frogbert> And sometime before July, I think Kramnik was 1st (tied with Anand, 1st on tiebreaks), which means we've had 6 different numero unos (official or otherwise) in a very short period of time. Astounding.
