cizio2: I met several players that played until checkmate, trying to earn a stalemate. I met just one player that played until checkmate, only to be good sport. I prefer that my opponent resigns when he has a lost game, I don't like to look for swindles in a won game. I don't think the loser

|
cizio2: I was in the playing room that day. After the games, the 2 players left the final position on the board. When the other players came to the board (Shirov was among them), they took some time to understand the outcome of the game.

cizio2: 10/13 with +2 on the seconds is an impressive win in Wijk C. I hope to see him in an important tourney before Wijk B 2009.

cizio2: Great defense by Ruijgrok this time.
Maybe was desperation, but the way to give away the exchange was interesting.

cizio2: Great game, with that 22.Rae1 Tal was in very big trouble.

| |
|
cizio2: I too have the book by Averbakh with the drawing line.
Janowski didn't see the draw OTB, but after 83 moves, and great part of them in inferior position, one can at least wait to see the pawn in seventh rank before resigning.
