Apr-24-13 Gelfand vs Adams, 2013 (replies)

dunican: Gelfand fighting for advantage and not settling for a quick draw? Haven't seen that for a while. And it paid off!

   Apr-15-13 H Steiner vs H Morton, 1936

dunican: <GrahamClayton> How does Black draw after 113.Kd7?

Mar-22-13 Radjabov vs Aronian, 2013 (replies)

dunican: Thanks for the video <Eyal>. It must have been so frustrating for Radjabov, sitting there and fighting for six hours and then collapsing and simply blowing the game away in final seconds.

   Mar-21-13 N V Pedersen vs S Tomezack, 2005 (replies)

dunican: <Dr. Funkenstein> Black loses a piece after 17.Bc3.

Mar-19-13 Ivanchuk vs Aronian, 2013 (replies)

dunican: <tamar> But already 31.c4 itself was played in the last-seconds rush, as Albert Silver comments for ChessBase: <31.c4 At this point, the times left for both players were five SECONDS for White, and 40 minutes for Black.>

Mar-16-13 Aronian vs Gelfand, 2013 (replies)

dunican: Nice shot 26.Bh6! Gelfand probably thought on move 25 he had an easy draw with the bishop pair against the extra pawn.

   Mar-13-13 Navara vs Jobava, 2004

dunican: Wow. I'm surprised this game hasn't been commented on. 20.Nxc6 is strong but was it necessary for Black to give up the piece with 22..Rad8? What about Rac8? The tactical subtleties that follow are really nice, I wonder if Navara saw 27.Nc7 already on move 20.

   Mar-01-13 Znosko-Borovsky vs E Cohn, 1909 (replies)

dunican: I guess Lasker's comment on move 7 should read "7.c4" instead of "7.f4".

   Feb-26-13 B Amin vs G Salem, 2010 (replies)

dunican: 11..Nd5 wasn't a very good choice but it's hard to do something about the position as 11..e6 12.a3 Qe7 13.Nd6+ looks very unpleasant for black, too. I guess 9..Nhf6 was the critical mistake.

   Feb-23-13 Navara vs R Ris, 2013

dunican: Navara pointed out a nice finish: 27.Ne6+ Qxe6 28.f8N+
