evlozare: looking at the grand prix, gmmamed appears to have the upperhand. radja has better prospects than mvl. radja needs to finsh not lower than solo third while mvl has to submit score not lower than solo second. with the formidable participants at palma, both may fail to achieve this. ...

evlozare: <rapport as wild card> hmmm... he is so wild he couldn't even reach fide rating qualification for wild cards - 2725. not even listed in 2700 list.

evlozare: oh, my! bypassing a lot of exceptional chessplayers. gms morphy, capablanca, lasker, botvinnik, karpov.

evlozare: critics of gmwesley continues to harp he wins only because he fed on the bottom half of the tournaments. they still haven't realized that the upper half can't take a point off him either.

evlozare: gmwesley only highlighted the power of the bishop pair.
   Oct-21-16 A Teller vs Tartakower, 1927 (replies)
evlozare: 23....Wc4 is a "perfect queen side-step" plus the coming "queen side-step" at 25...Qe3. i have seen winning moves with the queen "side-steps" from a white square to a black one (or vice-versa) especially with the games of GM champ RJF. just enjoy.

evlozare: thanks, chancho. i have always enjoyed the live videos of the games cause sometimes i look at not only the moves over the board but also the players' reactions and body language in crunch time. i specially liked last time around when gmwes moved Nf4 and next made Nxg2 against ...

evlozare: <devere> - the simplest and most equitable way to tweak the qualification criteria in the chess tour tournament is this. start in jan ratings, then require the average gain/loss of fide ratings for 12 months. add the average to starting rating on jan and that's that. say you ...
   Nov-20-15 Capablanca vs S Campos, 1927 (replies)
evlozare: very pleasing, exquisite! i think only gmcapablanca can foresee these nice combinations. thanks, cg.
   Aug-26-15 Sinquefield Cup (2015) (replies)
evlozare: re <u.s. vs row> i find it a new twist on the sinquefield. perhaps in the future we will find a top-notch tournament like this with <china vs row>. i wonder what the score will be.
