fersonatu: White's 30th move strikes me as a good Thursday/Friday puzzle. (I love the quite key move puzzles) To bad it has already been a puzzle (starting at move 31) and now a GOTD.

fersonatu: In the Carlsen game isn't 29 Nc6 met by 29 ... Nb4. I was actually looking at 29 Nb5 and, at the time simply don't understand Rc6 but perhaps Carlsen will teach me something.

fersonatu: <Shajmaty> f4 looks really tough to do since g4 is weak. (Unless of coarse he plays g5 first) I'm wondering if the idea is to do a knight tour of some sort. If so ... once it reaches c2 where could it be headed. a3 then c4 perhaps?!?! The other possiblity is of coarse he was

fersonatu: <Sneaky> If you expected "a lot of draws" Then why didn't you spread your cash across all of the games? Besides I thought you liked to play the long shots. Draw is not the long shot bet here! Radjabov to win the tounament!?! ... now that is a long shot bet. Do you have that ...

fersonatu: It seems to me that in almost every variation of 12. Be3 we end up planting the queen knight on c3 within a move or two. If one compares with what is being discussed in the forum on 12 Nc3 where the bishop doesn't go to e3 we find that 12 Nc3 can transpose to the 12 Be3 lines but ...

fersonatu: <you vs. yourself>
I just saw that you are playing in the US Open. Good luck! Please help me talk the Chess Bookie into allowing us to wager on the outcome of that tournament. I would really like to bet a few bucks on myself. "Other" may be dead money but the thought amuses

fersonatu: <DCP23> Frankly Leko's win today really didn't change your situation in the Kramnik vs. Leko bet very much. Even if Leko had drawn you still would have to think that the most likely way for your 1000 C$ ticket to pay off is for Kramnik to beat Leko in the last round. ...
