I am a 29-year-old software engineer. I live in Odense, Denmark.

In March, 2006, I started playing chess in two local chess clubs. Since then I have played in several rated OTB tournaments.

You can see my rating and tournament history here: http://www.dsu.dk/modul/medlemsinfo....

My favorite players are:

Rudolf Spielmann, for his romantic attacking style in a time when it was not popular.

Bent Larsen, for his unorthodox and imaginative playing style.

Paul Morphy, for his beautiful attacking games and total domination of his contemporaries.

I admit to having a love for gambits. In slow OTB tournaments, I play the Sicilian and French wing gambits, the Elephant and the King's gambit.

I have even played the Duras gambit (1.e4 f5!?) in a couple of games.

jegbjerg: I wonder if that rook sacrifice is sound. Great imagination from the Carribean Tal, in any case.

   Mar-25-07 N Karlis vs A Tomaras, 2001 (replies)

jegbjerg: Very horrible game by Black. I play better than that!

   Mar-15-07 J Rosenberg vs T Robertsen, 2001 (replies)

jegbjerg: The final position is mate.

   Mar-13-07 Marshall vs H Rogosin, 1940 (replies)

jegbjerg: There is no need for 10...Ngxf4. Instead, 10...Nd4 must be the right move, and black does not lose material.

jegbjerg: team white What about the more restrained 3.b3?

Mar-02-07 Anand vs Topalov, 2007 (replies)

jegbjerg: Doesn't Topalov nearly always play sharp chess? I like that.

jegbjerg: This is one of my latest team games. I played black on board 8 (last). It's not exactly a great game (my opponent played poorly), but everyone loves a miniature :-). White: N.N. (1543) Black: Me (1582) 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5 (Elephant gambit, one of my new favorites.) 3.exd5 e4 ...

   Feb-01-07 Korchnoi vs O W Hartvig, 2007 (replies)

jegbjerg: <Chessgames.com> The name of the Black player is FM Ove Weiss Hartvig . And similarly for the other games player by "Ove Hartig" in the Gibraltar 2007.

Jan-15-07 Y Shulman vs The World, 2007 (replies)

jegbjerg: <All openings starting with 1. d4 are slow.> Except the mighty Englund (1.d4 e5!?). If we want to avoid playing into Shulman's repertoire, the Englund is the safest bet. OK, so it isn't strictly sound, but you can't have both.

jegbjerg: I would like opinions on this opening variation. It was played against me yesterday in a team match game. It is the first time I have seen it, and as far as I know it does not exist in the database (or in the online chessbase). I suspect it is maybe better than it looks (using two ...
