jrbleau: "It's great to see that Karpov is still active." You call this active?

jrbleau: I first considered 23...Bc5, but given that W can take the f6R, I figured why not give up the exchange and open lines at the same time and came up with the right initial sequence of moves.

| |
|
jrbleau: Looked at 12...Bd5 first and spent quite a bit of time trying to make it work after 13 Qc5 Bf3 14 Kc2 when I noticed that the less promising-looking 12...Nd5 worked and calculated all three replies after 13 Qc5 Ne3. I attribute this good result to looking at chess *less* these days.

|
jrbleau: On 55...Kd3, W plays 56 Kf2
I solve this kind of position with a straightforward calculation, for example: 55...Ke3 56 Ke1 f2 57 Kf1 Kf3 draw. Then it's a simple matter of trying a triangulation followed by another straightforward calculation, some error-checking, and voilą!

jrbleau: Actually, it's a very interesting concept. 11...e4 should have been played instead of 11...Bf3.

jrbleau: David2009,
I actually had trouble with this puzzle because I found the defence 26 Nd2 against 25...Nd5, making this a very difficult puzzle. I'd say yes, it was a case of premature resignation.
