Some years ago I came up with a new but simple system to calculate the final standings of a tournament including all players. This is how it goes:

For each correct standing you'll get a maximum amount of points. Each prediction deviation from the actual player standing in the tournament, will deduct one point from your total (ABSOLUTE RANKER).

In case of a shared player's standing the average standing counts (both actual and in your predictions).

The SQUARE RANKER, squares your predictions' deviations. Here only medals are awarded if the winner s is not the same person s as in the absolute ranker.

Same goes for the The PAIR BETTING RANKER compare all possible pair outcomes of the tournament participants.

The three best predictions will get Real Virtual Gold Silver and Bronze!

Note: only one set of medals is awarded (in the absolute ranker) unless another ranker produces a different winner.

Special thanks to <YouRang> who made a software to calculate these numbers.

Our new contest manager for game results prediction User: Golden Executive during the tournament also ([1-0], [1/2], [0-1])!

or predict the # of moves in User: ohiochessfan organized by <chessmoron>

Enjoy!

lostemperor: Although this was not announced an official tournament (as for the Hall Of Fame where one Gold is maximum*) it was very interesting with some upsetting results in Dortmund!

Congratulations <WinKing>♔♔, <offramp>♔♕ and <Penguincw>♔♖ for winning Gold.

<Penguincw> again with reversed predictions what was good for Gold in the Pair betting ranker but surprisingly was also Bronze in the Square ranker!

Ohter podium places for your contest manager <lostemperor>♕♖ and <SwitchingQuylthulg>♖ (who did it again)!

WinKing: I know this this tournament was not on your schedule <lostemperor> but thanks for letting us play anyway. Even though it doesn't count it was still fun.

Congratulations to all of those who were lucky enough to pick up a medal! Looking forward to Sinquefield & I hope to see you all there.

Penguincw: Thanks for hosting <lostemperor>. Nice to see upside-down predictions still work. While it does well in Betting Ranker, it usually doesn't do well in the other rankers, except for this time. Wow! (but only 1 medal counts anyway)

Since it's not an official tournament, I won't count this medal, but nice to see I still take something away from this tournament.

Since Biel has started, see you at Sinquefield.

lostemperor: It seems I missed your predictions <wordfunph> because you spelled Wojtaszek as Woztaszek. The CONMAN prediciton program reads the first three letters and did not inculde that as a prediction because of the misspelling. I will change that in manually so you will appear on the rankings.
