From Sevilla (Spain), born in fifties. Chemical analyst, working in a official Drinking Water Quality Control laboratory.

Eye-witness in some games of Kasparov-Karpov WCC Sevilla 1987. Being a pre-teenager, I also watched a couple of games of Petrosian-Huebner, Candidates 1971.

Active player in 80s, not anymore. It was too much for my nervous system.

I'm very interested in chess history. Favourite player is an ideal mix Capablanca-Nimzovich-Smyslov. Two logical and clear minds and, in the middle, some drops of Nimzo eccentricity.

Current Favorite Poem:

Lo más hermoso, aquello
que no puede comprarse,
que vale, frente a un copo de tu espuma,
si se sabe mirar,
frente a una pluma de tormenta, rota
sobre tu orilla, frente
a tus platas y azules,
metales y cristales,

pude hacernos llorar,
ensancha las fronteras
del alma, desmorona
los muros negros de la realidad.
Qué vale nada, todo,
lo que tú, playa mía,
lirio de arena, selva
de círculos de oro,
túnica ardiente, pálida campana,
palacio sumergido,
inolvidable...

José Hierro (1922-2002)

SYMPATHY FOR THE FOOTBALL

Apr-22-13  NakoSonorense: Did you see what Suarez did to Ivanovic? Insane!

meloncio: <Kev> Hola, pues no, mis años "activos" fueron desde 1982 a 1987. Yo pertenecía a un modesto club del barrio de Heliópolis y nunca hicimos nada importante.

<Nako> Football is really crazy,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdsB...

Don't they know there are cameras everywhere?

Apr-22-13  Jim Bartle: I say a year's suspension. It wasn't as if Ivanovic had his arm up in Suarez's face, he had to bend down for his chomp.

Plus Suarez already is considered the worst flopped in European football.

Apr-22-13  NakoSonorense: A year minimum. What's really crazy is that this is not the first time Suarez attempts doing something like this. He did it back in 2010 when he was playing for Ajax.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Zb...

I doubt he'll get more than 10 games, though. Football suspensions seem pretty lax when it comes to aggressions on the field. When Pepe kicked that Getafe player a couple of years ago, he only got 10 games!

Apr-22-13  Jim Bartle: Above that's "flopper," not "flopped."
Apr-23-13  NakoSonorense: Barsa got dominated, to put it mildly.
Apr-23-13  Jim Bartle: Yes, but I can't see how in the world that third goal was allowed. The second Bayern guy put a block on the Barcelona defender which could go on an NFL highlight reel. Unbelievable.

meloncio: <Jim> I agree. Bayern was much better but 2nd & 3rd goal had to be disallowed. To be honest there was a blatant Piqué's handball being 0-0.

With so many errors I wonder why they need so much referees, especially goal referees (4th & 5th) are absolutely useless.

Apr-25-13  NakoSonorense: Just like I thought, Suarez is going to receive a 10-game suspension for biting Ivanovic's arm.

In other news, it seems like it will be an all-German Champions League final. Honestly, I don't find it all that surprising. Madrid were lucky not to have been beaten twice by Dortmund in the group stage. And Bayern have been destroying everyone as of late.

Apr-25-13  Jim Bartle: Germany 8 Spain 1. Yikes.

I still prefer the Prem tho .. it's got greater depth in quality imo...

meloncio: Bayern - Barsa 7-0. No comment ... because I could die laughing :)))

<harry> Remember "Catalonia is not Spain". At least is what you can read in huge banners that some radical groups use to show at Nou Camp.

May-02-13  Jim Bartle: It wasn't so much the score yesterday, three goals in the second half, but that Barcelona had no attack, didn't come close to scoring. Bayern must have a pretty good defense.

meloncio: Anda Barsa won La Liga, what a surprise! :)

A joke about Pepe and his special relationship with Messi & Mourinho in Catalonian TV. It's based on a Brazilian song very popular around here (English subtitles),

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7Ib...

May-17-13  Jim Bartle: I'm no fan of Ronaldo, but that Atletico guy was totally faking that Ronaldo kicked him in the face. He didn't touch. There was a linesman just a few meters away, but the ref still gave the red card.
